The eye bags under Jisung's eyes underlined his numb and tired expression as he pointlessly stared out in front of him. He hasn't spoken a word since he entered the room. It's like he got sedated or something. Felix shared a panicked glance with Seungmin, who made some sort of aggressive hand gesture, not knowing how to act either, before the Australian turned to his friend. "Ji, did you even sleep last night?" Felix asked carefully. Jisung turned to him, showing a fake smile as an attempt to assure his friends. "Yeah, totally. School is just tiring the hell out of me." Seungmin and Felix shared another look, not persuaded by the other's story at all. "And Minho?" Seungmin asked. Jisung's face visibly darkened. "Just some trouble reaching him. That's all. He's busy with his auditions anyway, remember?"
"Right," Seungmin concluded. "There is something you're not telling us."
Jisung sighed. "Fine, you win." he gave in, which is something he didn't do very easily. He fiddled with his sleeve. "He has been.. distant." It was hard to even finish that sentence. The lump in his throat got stuck and wasn't planning on leaving any time soon, Jisung concluded just from that. He closed his eyes, taking a heavy breath in and out before continuing. "I don't know what has gotten into him. Maybe he is just stressed or maybe I am just overthinking this, but I feel like he is avoiding me." Felix and Seungmin noticed the struggle on the boy's face, tears starting to well up in his eyes, his lip beginning to quiver. "And every time I ask if I did something wrong or why he is avoiding to see me, I get the same answer."
"Sorry, Love. I am busy."
"I- I just feel like I am losing him. He is just slipping away from me. And I'm scared, really, really damn scared that I'll lose him eventually."
"I just want him to come home.." his voice broke. Seungmin took it upon himself and wrapped his arms around Jisung. "Hey. Don't cry, Ji. You didn't do anything wrong. It's gonna be ok. You've still got us by your side. And we will never leave you, okay?" Felix smiled at the genuine words from his boyfriend and joined in on the hug. "Minnie is right, Ji. You've still got us and we are never planning on leaving you. And if you're sad, just let it out, Jisung. It's ok to feel emotions. You don't have to be strong for us all the time."
Jisung sat down on the stool, a sigh leaving his mouth, his hands resting in his neck as he threw his head back. "It's you and Minho, am I right, Ji?" his mother spoke and as usual she read him as an open book. "You never get it wrong," Jisung answered, eyes still shut.
His mother sat down next to him, ready to listen to whatever her son had to say. Occasionally she nodded. The more Jisung talked, the deeper the frown on her forehead engraved.
"I just can't seem to understand him."
"Trying to understand someone who's different from you is hard, Jisung. But learning to trust each other is far more valuable than understanding." Jisu's thumb traced down her son's skin. "Remember that, dear. Love takes time and patience but is so, so beautiful. Be careful of what you lose."
"Okay. I'll go see him."
"Trust him, Jisung. Promise me."
Jisu held her son's hands in hers. Jisung's expression finally softened and he nods.
"I promise." He squeezed her hand.
Jisung ran through the dark alleys, the wind biting his skin, a taller building with a hidden entrance showing up in his vision. With all his might, he pushed the rusty door open. The freezing gush of wind shooed him in.
