"Hey, Ji. Minnie and I are going for a drink tonight. You joining us?" Felix looked at his friend, waiting for an answer while the three of them stood in the hall right before the school's entrance. The weeks were getting shorter as they neared the end of the year, which left them with much time to kill, so they used that time. But Jisung shook his head. "No, thanks. I can't. I have work."
The Australian began to frown. "Oh, you are working again?" He rose a brow, his lips formed into a pout, quite surprised by the other's statement. It had been ages since Jisung quit his job, for obvious reasons. Why did he all of a sudden decide to work then? "We need it."
"Hmm, good luck then." He squeezed his friend's shoulder, still shooting him a concerned look. "Take it easy." Seungmin reminded him. Jisung wasn't the stable type. And definitely not now. Jisung hummed. "Yeah, I know. I'll be careful."
"We'll send you off then," Felix insisted, and they walked Jisung back together. Upon standing in front of his house, his friends watched him leave. However, not sure what to think about this. Something wasn't right. That's for sure. What is it that he is hiding from them? "Come on, Lix. Let's go." Seungmin pulled him along, though he too kept staring back at Jisung's house. Whatever is happening, please, let him be safe. And with that in thought, they left.
Jisung watched himself in the mirror, fixing his uniform. He froze and stared himself in the eye, his gaze piercing. He had to brace himself. Jisung tried to relax his tense shoulders, shaking them, though his hands kept trembling. He swallowed, looking back up at himself. "You have to go." he reminded himself. Jisung hoped that if he told himself those words he would eventually have the courage and confidence to go.
He trudged down the stairs and into the living room, he met his little brother, sitting on the ground, playing with some blocks he got on his birthday. Jisung approached him, picking him up and swinging him around, causing the two of them to laugh. "Hello, Jaeyong." He brought his face closer, booping the top of his nose. "What is my little brother up to?" His little brother giggled.
"I'm playing with my blocks!" Jaeyong pointed to the tower he created, that barely handled to balance, which made Jisung smile. "Hmm, good job!" he complimented him. "Jisung, when is Minho visiting us again?" Jaeyong asked. The innocence in his eyes affected him. He felt so sorry. Jisung's smile bittered as he turned his head away from his brother. "I don't think he is visiting us any time soon, Jaeyong."
Jisung deliberately avoided looking at his little brother for he feared he might drop the strong facade in front of him. He didn't want to ruin the pure look in his eyes and cloud it with sorrow. Thinking about Minho already made him want to lock himself up in his room and cry. Jisung wiped over his cheek, feeling a tear trying to leave. He plastered a smile on his face again and put his little brother down. "Listen, Jaeyong. Brother has to go to work now, okay? Bye bye!" Jisung waved at him. Irene greeted Jisung before he closed the door behind him.
The crowd blared through the place as music boomed above them. Felix and Seungmin sat across from each other, holding up their glass, clinking them together, and taking a sip. "What on earth can be going on with Jisung?" Felix sat lost in thought. Seungmin mirrored his action, moving the glass in his hand. "Something strange is going on." he stated. "There is no way he would just start working again."
"I know, right? I thought the same. Shouldn't we ask? Maybe there is something with their family."
From afar, glass scattered on the ground and a shout followed. As people began to gather around, the vague image became clear. "Hold up is that Jisung?!" Felix looked out in front of him, slamming his glass on top of the counter and running to the other. "What is he doing here?!" Seungmin yelled back, running to the scene as well.
