Sounds of plates and utensils chimed through the dining room. Everyone gathered around the table, 'happily' picking at food and conversing. Minho just fidgeted with the utensils. Other than that, he leaned back in his seat, not bothering to join or start a conversation. But for Minho, luck was never on his side and today is no exception. "Right," his aunty finished, before turning herself to Minho. "When will you take over the business now that you've finally gotten rid of that ridiculous dream of yours?" Everyone cackled along when his aunt started laughing. After calming herself, his mother interfered. "After he graduates, his father will teach him everything. We are planning to expand the business."
"Thank goodness. Imagine. A dancer? Him? Don't make me laugh."
Minho smashed his plate against the table as he stood up, earning everyone's attention in an instant as they all looked up at him, Minjun grinning in the back.
"I don't feel well." Minho excused and walked off.
The mattress engulfed him as he let himself sink in it. In the distance, the clock ticked, disturbing the night's silence he much needed. Minho took a breath out. This wouldn't do.
With one swift motion, the male moved the curtains aside, pushing open the heavy balcony doors. The wind blew in like a fresh gush of air. The moon was already up and here and there a star shot over his head. Minho sat down on the freezing, stone bench in front of his garden.
Just as he traced his finger over a flower's petal, another flower, caught his attention. It couldn't get any drop of rain or sunlight because it got towered over by other flowers. So, it decided to wither away. Minho reached out for the dying thing, frowning. Carefully, he dug its roots out of the ground, holding it in his hands like a little child. He scanned his eyes all over the balcony until his gaze landed on an empty pot. "That will do," Minho thought and kneeled, planting the flower in it and immediately grabbing a watering can. Once you leave out 'survival of the fittest', everything has a chance to grow. Sometimes they need a little help.
Then, the rain broke out.
