The night grew darker and with every minute he heard more people enter from the way their voices grew louder and their feet stomped on the floor. Minho's heart was at the point of beating out of his throat so much it kind of made his eyes teary, just the slightest. He decided to stop peeking from the curtain to calm his nerves, pacing around backstage instead. People were walking across, but there was no sign of anyone familiar in that matter. He tapped his heel on the floor, crossing his arms, and leaned back into the wall. This is the opportunity he had always been waiting for.
What some didn't understand is that Minho really had to fight for this position he was in now. He was well aware people wanted to sabotage him, but the fierce spirit in him to fight for his own was far too great for that to happen. Only now had he realized this is the result of his own hard work. And he continued that thanks to all the amazing people next to him who did believe in him when others didn't. Even when he started to doubt himself, it's the people next to him that made him believe in himself again.
They changed him, or rather, they made him want to change. And he could not be more grateful for them.
His thoughts got disrupted by a pair of wide arms wrapping around him. "You didn't have to. It's not like I am nervous or anything." Minho sarcastically remarked though he still accepted the hug. This was typical Minho behavior. Chan rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Sure, you aren't." He patted his friend's back.
"You guys are coming to support Minho, right?" Jisung turned to his friends before he dug into his closet. "Of course! We wouldn't miss it for the world!" Felix dragged his unwilling boyfriend with him. "Do we have to?" Seungmin groaned as Felix shot him a dissaproving glare. "Minnie, this is your best friend's boyfriend's performance, you are ought to go!" Felix scolded him. Jisung hummed. "Thanks, Lix," he responded. His friend winked back. "Here," Jisung threw some clothes at them. "Put these on, it might get cold." His two friends looked in their hands to find a nice pair of gloves and a hoodie. "Thanks, Ji," they responded as they pulled the extra hoodie over their clothing. "It's nothing," he waved off and held the door open for them.
"Let's go?" Jisung motioned. "The best friend trio is making a comeback, let's go!" Felix cheered and grasped his friend's hands, pulling them with him, their journey filled with laughter.
"Are you ready?" Hyunjin put his hand on Minho's shoulder, shooting him a worried frown. Minho looked at him and nodded. "They wouldn't know what's coming for them," he responded in a cocky tone. The taller bumped against the other's side. "Looks like you're back," Hyunjin smirked.
The cold air made clouds escape from Jisung's mouth as he eagerly waited for the show to begin, holding his friends close. Jisung still wasn't a big fan of large crowds. They pushed themselves through the people, in search of the others as the three of them had agreed to meet up with Chan and Hyunjin, from here they would have a perfect view. And that was of the utmost importance for Jisung, so the others complied.
"Hey," Chan greeted as they all appeared next to them. "Hey," Jisung greeted back. They all found this the right time to catch up and chat a bit right before the show started. Busy conversing, Jisung asked the older with a frown. "You didn't wait too long here in the cold, right?" A smile appeared on his face, overwhelmed with fondness. Chan loved how considerate Jisung always was towards others. It truly warmed his heart. "No, we didn't."
"Plus, a bit of chilliness never hurt anyone." The Australian winked to not worry Jisung. Yes, they waited in the cold for a pretty long time but Chan figured it wasn't worth the discussion. As long as he and Hyunjin didn't freeze to death, it was ok. Then the lights went on and someone walked onto the stage, looking like the presenter as he held a mic and walked to the center of the stage, welcoming everyone, instructing what would happen, and afterward introducing tonight's first performance. An ovation of claps followed, then slowly drowning out into silence.
The sound of the lights shutting off sounded through the open air, a singular spotlight flickering on as the stage itself filled with smoke. The smoke outlined him, displaying his well-built figure, hidden within the fog. Upon rising, the first beats boomed through the boxes, taking Minho fully in its grasp.
His body worked like an addiction. You couldn't get enough of it. Minho held everyone under his hypnosis. His smooth flow within his transitions and sharp movements kept everyone on edge. Every motion created a new reaction from the audience, the entire place consisting of gasps, people pointing, and mesmerized faces. Other contestants wouldn't stand a chance against this man.
Minho let out a breathless laugh, flustered by the thunderous standing ovation he received. His cheeks pressed out, suddenly feeling the need to hide his face and more importantly, himself, thanking everyone with a bow. This was a bit too overwhelming for him. He felt absolutely exhausted.
Minho strengthened himself just in time to catch Jisung who jumped into his arms. "That's my man!" The moment of happiness soon got replaced as Jisung immediately proceeded to check every inch of Minho's face with a worried frown. "You didn't get hurt anywhere, did you?" Jisung jutted out his lip, examining his lover further. Minho made the other look back at him to make sure he listened. "No, I didn't." His voice softened to reassure Jisung, which he only did for this boy. Overall, Minho knew he worried Jisung these past few days. The younger lowered his head and found a comfortable place as he nuzzled himself against Minho. "Thank god, you didn't." Jisung muttered in the crook of his neck.
In that moment, everything was perfect.
