"you ready, ash?"
a hum of approval made its way next to gou's ears as ash zoomed to the door holding his bag in one hand and his hat in the other, tossing them both onto his person.
"did you eat first, gou?"
"yeah, those pieces of toast. but i didn't see you eat anything--"
"good. let's go!"

before leaving the lab, they ran into professor cerise with chloe behind him.
"going somewhere, you two?", the professor chuckled seeing the adolescents so energized in the morning.
"rotom told me about a recent sighting of mew not far from here, so we're gonna go see if we can spot it. i'm really feeling confident this time!"
cerise laughed while chloe wasn't really paying attention to the conversation, and seemed fixated on something concerning instead.
"well, as always, i hope you manage to find it. right, chloe?"
"what? oh, uh, yeah. totally. by the way, ash, what's that thing on your hand--"
before she could stretch out her hand to point it out, they had said their goodbyes and left swiftly.

they had stopped at a nearby cafe to grab a bite to eat and maybe an energizing drink before they got back on the road.
after checking the time on his phone, gou squinted in confusion and looked back at the bathroom. ash had been in there for almost 10 minutes now.
as he was staring, a man caught his attention who had just exited.
"excuse me, young man. by any chance, is that your friend in there with the blue jacket?"
"um, yeah. why?"
"i know it's none of my business, but if there's nothing going on, i think you should go check on him. he's been throwing up for a little bit now"
"throwing up?"
the man nodded for the last time while looking back at the bathroom as if he had seen a ghost, then bidding him a nice day and leaving.
"he literally just ate a slice of cake...", gou murmured to himself, looking at the remains of what was about a 1/10 cake slice and a half-finished milkshake.
"y'okay?", asked a lively voice behind him, who innocently sat himself down as if nothing happened, "if you wanted a bite, you should've just asked, y'know!"
"oh, no, it's not that. it's nothing. let's head off, i'm done. you took a while in there, everything okay?"
"yeah, fine. why?"
"just...i mean, were you sick at all, or anything?"
"just a little. but it's no big deal. i probably just ate too much"

while climbing the stairs, gou usually looked up to ash to motivate him when the number of flights was getting on his nerves, seeing the boy sprint them all so freely. but today, ash was trailing just a little behind him, and was relying a worrying proportion of his weight onto the railing, with the occasional sway from side to side.
"ash, are you alright?"
"of course. why wouldn't i be?"
"well, you look...dizzy, and sleepy. like you're struggling to walk"
"you worry too much! it's just the stairs trying to outgrow me. how cheeky"

they had been scanning the sky for who knows how many hours now. gou himself was even starting to get bored of it, although he was the one who got excited about spotting mew. maybe another time.
he folded the binoculars with more of an attitude that he was ready to call it a day rather than being disappointed, and looked for ash as he put them in his bag. usually, being his adventurous self, ash would be sitting on the edge of the rooftop somewhere, thinking about life while being inches from plummeting to his death.
he was, indeed, on the edge of the roof. and he was probably thinking about something deep. but gou hoped when he saw a fresh tear roll down his eyes that he wasn't thinking about his life.

he put a hand on his younger friend's shoulder, startling him.
"o-oh. hey"
"hey...uh, we're ready to go. did...you bring a jacket today?"
"no. was i supposed to?"
"it's just. it's getting late, so it's getting cold now, and, and you look, you look a little--"
gou wasn't interrupted, but he stopped himself talking when the boy he was talking to stopped shivering.

ash tried to feel 'good' most of the time, whatever that was. whether it meant forcing himself to smile at an event he didn't want to be at or forcing food down his throat which he despised. but when he woke up at 2 in the morning with the only good feeling being a warm hand holding his own, he couldn't figure out how to be optimistic about this moment. it felt like his body was punishing him.
he was coming to, slowly but surely, being able to visualize him and gou's room in the professor's lab.
"you okay?", he croaked before he could get to see his friend's face.
"am i okay? really? that's--no, forget that question. what about you being okay? why are you never trying to make sure that you're okay, ash?"
ash was getting the feeling gou was referring to something specific.
"how are you gonna ask if i'm okay when you're the one passing out because you keep forgetting to take care of yourself!"
"does it bother you that much?"
"yes, it does, actually!"
"why--"
"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, YOU IDIOT"
ash's eyes sparkled as he was physically taken aback.
"I...I love you so much. that it's frustrating to see you treat yourself like this. you deserve to be taken care of, including by yourself. and i'm going to remind you to do that"
ash squeezed gou's hand harder and placed another on his cheek.
"alright, alright. i won't forget. so don't cry, okay?"
since then, gou has his own system for reminding his boyfriend that he mattered to him.
monday - remember to eat! (a morning kiss)
tuesday - please treat your injuries! (hold his hand)
wednesday - take your medicine! (a pat on the head)
thursday - get some sleep! (feel his hair)
friday - humans get sad sometimes! (touch his face)
saturday - keep yourself warm! (give him a hug)
sunday - give yourself a break. go rest, it's been a tough week. (cuddle)
minus the brackets, this is my message to you all.

Pokemon Shipping Oneshots (Ash Ketchum Shippings Only)
FanfictionI decided to make this book where each part is a Oneshot of an Ash Ketchum shipping, since I don't really like ships that don't include him. I think most of them will be yaoi. I'm happy to take suggestions.
