Chapter 15 - What did you see?

"Hi gaara!"
"Naruto." I said to mass of blonde of hair. "Will you Get off."

Now-
Naruto had been here for a week, and gaara had to agree with the hokage. Naruto's behavior was indeed strange. Gaara felt as though he knew what it might be, but every time he seemed close to figuring out the answer is slipped away. Like mist through his fingers. Although he had to admit, Gaara enjoyed being with the blonde all the same. Gaara yawned and stood up from his desk. Glancing out the window he saw stars beginning to make their way out onto the night sky. He walked out of his office and nodded to the various people who were still walking the halls doing paperwork. Temari came up to Gaara just then.

"Gaara, got a last minute thing for you." The red head glared at the woman who called herself his sister. "I know i know, your time began 3 minutes ago but can you at least file these for tomorrow?" The pale boy sighed and nodded before taking the the thick file and continuing to walk toward his room.

.Gaara shut the door after he entered and sighed before he turned and tried to see the blonde. Which didn't seem to be in his room. Gaara's sand wiggled across his floor and up his walls searching for the boys chakra signature. Finally finding it, gaara let himself be pulled along by his sand. It led him up to the roof where naruto sat looking up at the night sky. The red head slid himself over towards the blonde and looked up at the stars.

"The stars. Aren't they beautiful?" Gaara looked over at the blonde, who just asked the question.
"You know Gaara. Stars are only visible in darkness. Did you know that?" Gaara tilted his head confused at the blondes words.

"Yes. Stars shine at night. That was obvious." Gaara said in simply voice his confusion remaining in his mind.

"Do you think that the stars know that?" Gaara frowned. Stars didn't have thoughts. They were nothing but large giants of gases and materials in outer space having chemical reactions which don't reach earth till much later. Naruto looked over at Gaara's confused face and let out a small and whispery laugh which the desert wind carried away into far away reaches that no one knows. Naruto looked back up the stars.
"Fear is ever changing, and evolving. And just like fear, we humans change to. We evolve."

"Yes." Gaara said, finally starting to get an understanding on the blondes words.

"Gaara." Naruto said, a tear spilling over one of his eyes. "Im slipping through the cracks." Tears slipped out of his other eye."Into a carousel, with nothing but my memories," Naruto pulled his knees close and up to his chest. "which slowly i forget, till my hearts starts vanish and suddenly i see." Naruto stops speaking and looks back up the stars. My head was buzzing.

"What did you see?" Gaara asked him softly. The whiskered boy didn't respond. "Naruto what did you see?" Naruto turned and looked at me, with sad eyes tears on his cheeks drying. "Please," gaara asked him, "tell me. what did you see?"
