26. Falling

Yuxin's POV

"What the hell are you doing? Take it!" I spoke as I waited for Lee Y/N to take the broom from me.

I could feel my blank façade crumbling into a confused one as I watch her do nothing. What the hell is her problem? Just as I'm about to tell her off again, she slowly started to reach out.

What happened next was too fast and the next thing I know is that she's dead weight and leaning against me. For a moment, my mind went blank and I don't know what to do. I stood frozen on my spot. The broom that I was holding slipped out of my hand and dropped to the ground.

"Y/N!" Lin Fan yelled out.

Snapping out of my daze, I slightly stumbled as I tried to hold Lee Y/N up. Panic is slowly clouding my mind at my situation. She's not dying, is she? I looked at her face and the panic only intensified as I saw how pale she is.

"Snap out of it! Get her to the clinic!" Xiaotang yelled, obviously panicked as she snapped her fingers at me.

I don't know what I was doing anymore. I gave out a nod before I bent down, to carry Lee Y/N. My left arm went underneath her knees and the other on her back as I heaved her up. Surprisingly, it wasn't hard to carry her at all.

"Liu Yuxin, give Y/N to me." Yu Yan ordered as she approached me.
"We don't have time for this." I mumbled, ignoring her and jogging towards the doors.

I could feel my heart beating in my throat and I don't even know why. From the close proximity, I could tell that Lee Y/N's temperature is nowhere near normal and it's high, but I could also feel her shivering. I bit my lips as heat started to form on my neck and up my face as well.

"Where do you think you're going?" Before I could go out the door, Miss Cheng stopped me.
"I need to bring her to the clinic." I answered blankly. Couldn't she tell? I made a move to go again, but she stopped me.
"I'm sure she's just acting out to get out of trouble. Go back." She ordered and crossed her arms.

"Okay, just what the actual fuck is wrong with your brain?" Yu Yan cursed loudly and marched up to Miss Cheng.
"Nothing's wrong with mine, but there is with yours. Have you forgotten that I'm higher than you? Suspension!" Miss Cheng yelled out in utter rage.

"Listen here. Use your common sense and figure out that Lee Y/N's not acting. You have eyes, don't you?" I snapped before pushing past her and continuing to jog towards the clinic.

I blocked out all the warnings and empty threats that came out of Miss Cheng's mouth and focused on what I'm doing. I don't even know why I'm doing this. I'm supposed to despise Lee Y/N, and I'm pretty sure that people who despise someone won't do what I'm doing right now.

Why didn't I just hand her over to Yu Yan? Glancing back, no one's following behind me. Where the hell did they go? Miss Cheng must've held them back again. Letting out a small groan, I shifted Lee Y/N in my arms and continued forward.

Speaking of, why the hell would she still attend classes when she's obviously not well? Is she that reckless? Finally, I reached the clinic. I went inside and luckily the nurse is there and she's just tending to those senior boys that Lee Y/N got into a fight with. I slightly winced as I saw their broken nose and bruises. I didn't know that Lee Y/N is capable of that.

"Another one?" The nurse sighed as she saw us. She's already in her late forties and she's Mrs. Wu. She's known as the mother of the school, considering that she's the one who always takes care of hurt students. I nodded in answer to her question.

"You can put her over there." Mrs. Wu said and pointed to one of the available beds before going back to tending to the other boys.

I did as she said and walked towards the bed. I let out a sigh as I finally set Lee Y/N down and stretched my arms. She isn't heavy at all, but being fixed into a position for a long time isn't pleasant to anyone.
