Yuxin's POV

"MEOOOWW!"

"Shit!"

I could literally feel my heart lurch up my throat as Y/N cursed and hurriedly stepped on the breaks. The car came to an abrupt stop and we both jerked forward. In front of the car is a dumpster, trampled over. My head snapped towards Y/N, to see her looking up front with wide eyes.

"Maybe I shouldn't have let you get behind the wheel." I choked out but all she did was let out a small laugh.
"I thought I killed something!" She let out a sigh of relief.

My jaw dropped as I looked at her in disbelief. "Let's switch. I'll just drive for us." I mumbled and started to unfasten my seat belt.

"Hey wait! I haven't even started driving yet!" She said in protest.

"Exactly. And you already hit that dumpster two times. You said you're gonna die when I drive, yet you're so calm with you, driving." I rolled my eyes. "It's not rocket science that it's more logical for me to drive."

A few moments after we talked in the backseat, she has had this spontaneous idea to have me tell my mom about the truth as soon as possible. And for her, as soon as possible, meant now. Of course, I have been opposed to it.

Not only is it nearly 3 in the morning already, but I also need the time to prepare what to say. But Y/N was persuasive. I actually half blame myself for a bit for urging her to be spontaneous.

"It's offensive how much you're underestimating my driving skills, Yuxin. And I agreed to let you drive earlier, return the gesture, will you? I wouldn't offer to drive if I don't know how to. I'm not stupid to risk both our lives, you know?" Y/N huffed out.

I blinked back to reality and turned to her. She is unmoving. Her lips are pursed as her expression became blank. Is she upset? If she is, then it's obviously because of something I said and it made me feel slightly bad.

"Alright. Let's switch." She muttered, voice dripping in disappointment as she sighed.

I observed her for a while. Her words really contradicted her actions. Although she sounds defeated, she unfastened her seatbelt really slow, as if waiting for me to take back what I said. I could tell that she's just playing. I haven't forgotten that she's the president of the Drama Club. It's a given that she knows how to act. For a second, I really thought she was serious.

"Fine, okay. You can drive. Please don't be upset anymore." I finally agreed with a small sigh.

She stared back at me for a few minutes, eyes wide and unblinking. What now? What took me by surprise is when she suddenly grinned widely. Her smile reached her eyes and they curved. A smile like she doesn't have a single problem to worry about, which is untrue.

I couldn't help but unconsciously return it. There's just something contagious in them. I rarely see this smile off hers, maybe only once or twice. And for me, that's what makes them more meaningful and special. She turned away, obviously excited as she turned to the road.

"You okay? Seems like you're frozen in time there." She asked and looked at me again with her brows furrowed. I blinked back at her. I'm sure I wasn't staring for too long.
"I'm good. Just drive carefully." I answered as my face started to grow hot. I cleared my throat as I forced myself to look away from her.

"Alright! Let's go and tell your mom everything." She said with a small laugh as she once again, started to drive.

Her words sent a tingle of nervousness and also anticipation up my spine. My nerved came from the fact that I'm still a bit scared and reluctant to this idea. While I'm also in anticipation to finally having everything off my shoulders. No more secrets and worries.
