Cigno Fanciulla Act I: Sinfonia Sparza
《Chapter IX - Masquerade》

Behind the masks are well-kept secrets hidden away from the human eye. Beneath the acts are undeciphered intentions, under the layers of sweet surprise. In a masquerade where the risks are high, you would not dare to cry.

"Someone seems happy. Did something good happen last night?" Lisa cooed, handing me over a cup of tea in the Grandmaster's office while I waited for Albedo to open his.

Holding the cup in my hands, I blew tiny heaps of air to cool down the beverage in its casing. I watched as the liquid formed ripples up until it became still and clear as I pondered over the happenings of last night.

"Nothing in particular." I lie.

However, the Librarian was quite the insightful witch. She probably brewed up a plan in her mind to figure out what had been the cause of my brighter mood. Her thoughts had come to a halt upon hearing a knock on the door, followed by the creaking sound it caused as it fell open to reveal the source of my early morning happiness.

"Oh, Kaeya, fancy seeing you this early in the morning. What ever could be the- oh, I see." The Librarian had on the most mischievous of smiles, glancing over from my spot to the Cavalry Captain's.

I perk up a brow to ask her, and she simply replied, "You both spent the night together, and judging by your actions and auras - you even had the liberty of staying in each other's arms first thing in the morn!" She finished off her spot-on conclusion with her signature chuckle.

I couldn't really pay mind to her, not when I had a silent stare-off with Kaeya. How could I not? He peppered me with affection soon as I came to consciousness. I could still feel his lingering touch that trailed from my cheeks to my fingertips, guiding his lips to leave on soft kisses on my very skin - painting pictures as if it were his canvas.

"My, my. It's only the least I could do to satisfy my fair maiden's needs." He said, striding over to my side - making me relax with the comfort his hands on both of my arms, feeling the soft strands of his hair inch nearer to the skin of my cheek and neck.

I breathed in, his scent of fresh peppermint mixing in with the tea's sweet aroma - intoxicating was he and this feeling, I feared that I would have trouble keeping my loyalties and boundaries in check. Oh the effect he has on me.

A tingle runs down my spine as he leaves off a kiss to my exposed shoulder, "Is it just me, or do you look a bit more tempting than ever today?" He whispered, intentionally letting his lips brush against the sensitive flesh of my ear - rendering my senses to burn with fire he had ignited within the realms of my desires.

It took me to muster up quite the strength to confront his sweet seduction. Letting the cup of tea down on the table, I faced Kaeya from my seat - boring holes into him. "If you can't keep your hands to yourself in the office, I may change my mind of joining you in the evening, Mr. Alberich." My voice remained its natural flat tone, yet hidden between the lines are a form of taunt.

The door once again came to an open, the perfect excuse arrived in the form of the Chief Alchemist. For a moment, he seemed to take in the scenery unfolding as he asked, "Did I interrupt something?"

Ah, another perfect opportunity to slip in a tease.

"No, you didn't. Shall we get started on the tests?" I suggested, which caused the purple witch to laugh softly in amusement, and the blue captain to stare at me with disbelief.
