The things I did

Jersey City

     "So, what's the plan for today" Sarah asks as she packs up her belongings.

     It is still early in the morning. Sarah had only booked the hotel room for 1 night, so you had to be out by 11 AM. It is currently 10:30.

     "Hmmmm, well Becky and I do have today and tomorrow off from work" you answer Sarah.

     Sarah gives you a playful smirk that you are familiar with. You return the same smirk.

     "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Sarah asks you.

     "Does it involve going to your shore house?" You ask back.

     You can see the excitement in Sarah's face as a smile washes across her face. "Yes, of course it does!!!"

     You look at Becky to see if she is okay with that plan. She gives you a nod, signaling she is in.

"Becky and I are totally down."

     Sarah claps her hands from the excitement of her plans coming together. She looks over at Lizzie, who is by her bed packing her things.

     Sarah asks, "Lizzie, are you going to join us down the shore?"

     A part of you hopes she'll say no or say that she has plans. But, the other part of you hopes she'll say yes, allowing you to spend more time with her.

     Lizzie looks up at Sarah and stops packing to think.

     "I don't think I have any thing planned. I'm supposed to meet up with my sisters in New York tomorrow but I can always cancel" Lizzie replies.

     "What?!? You can't cancel on your sisters! Sibling bonding is always a must" Becky says.

     Becky gives you a look as if she is trying to help you stay away from Lizzie. You give her a look back, telling her to knock it off. Although you were still slightly annoyed with Lizzie, you want to get to know her more.

     "Lizzie, you do whatever you want. Don't listen to Becky over there" you say as you point at Becky.

     Becky looks at you with her hands in the air giving you a 'What the hell man' look.

     Lizzie smiles at you and says "Then it's settled, I will be joining you on your little getaway."

     Ever since you got back to the hotel, you haven't said anything to Lizzie except for when you said 'Hi' in the morning. You can tell there's a tension between you two, but you tried your best to keep it subtle. It's as if Lizzie knew you knew of her current situation, which only made things worse.

     "Great! I'm so excited this worked out so last minute! This is going to be so much fun. We can take my car to my shore house and spend the day on the beach. I don't know about you guys, but I would love to go to Wildwood at night to walk on the boardwalk. We can even go on the rides and play games" Sarah says with excitement in her voice.

     "Oh no, I don't do rides. You can count me out of that part" Lizzie says.

     "WHAT! You don't like rides?!?" You ask with shock in your voice.

     "I don't like adrenaline rushes! I can do the little carnival rides, but not big rides like roller coasters."

     You stood there in disbelief. You LOVED rides, especially roller coasters. They were your favorite activity to do in the summer.

     "Well, Lizzie, we will have to change that" you say to her.

     "Hold on. Lizzie, you are an avenger. Your character literally flies in the air. How do you film all those scenes and say you hate adrenaline rushes?" Becky asks.
