Bucky and I were kissing, arms wrapped tightly around each other, bodies pressed as close as possible. My heart was pounding and all I could think about was Bucky, wanting more. Until my thoughts were rudely interrupted by a knock at my door. Without time for me to respond, or to fully pull away from Bucky, Steve walked in.
"Talia, everyone's ready downstairs but have you seen..." he stopped, seeing Bucky and I too close to be just talking. His eyes darted between the two of us before he cleared his throat. "Sorry. Yeah, everyone's waiting on you two." He turned and walked out.
"Shit." Bucky hissed out. "I should talk to him."
"Why?" I rolled my eyes with annoyance. Steve would be the last person who had the right to say anything.
Bucky reached out and grabbed my hand. "He's my best friend. I need him to be okay with this."
"And if he's not?" I questioned. Bucky opened his mouth but nothing came out. My heart sank as I yanked my hand from his. "Oh. I get it. You can go." Bucky didn't move so I spoke again. "I need to get changed. Please go."
Bucky walked out and I sat on my bed. I flipped between sad and just pissed off. I changed into black sweatpants and t shirt before walking to the movie room. Everyone was there, sitting around the sunk in couch. Angel, Eva, and Kai were on the right while Bruce, Steve, Bucky, and Sam were on the left. I walked to sit in the center. Once I sat, Rhodey came in with four pizzas. He placed them on the table in the center before sitting down next to me.
I smiled at the three on my right. "Go ahead. Eat up." Angel was the first to reach for a plate and pizza, Eva followed but Kai hesitated. I looked at him confused.
"Is there anything besides pepperoni? I don't eat meat."
Rhodey answered. "Bottom two pizzas are extra cheese."
"Thank you." Kai responded before moving the top two pizzas and grabbing a slice.
Once everyone had their pizza, Bruce turned on the projector and we sat and watched a movie together. We started out quietly watching, but by the end we all had talked over it. Commenting our thoughts on the characters, what they should've done. Eva and Kai even talked a bit too. The pizzas were gone, Sam and Bucky argued over the last slice which ended with Steve just taking it and eating it. We decided to watch another movie, but by the end Angel started yawning, which set off the yawn train.
"I think that was a good first day, team." I smiled at them and Eva returned it.
"Thank you for this. It was a nice surprise." Eva spoke and Kai agreed with her.
"Yes. Thank you."
I got up first. "Yeah, I'm gonna crash. You three need anything before I go?"
"No, thank you." Angel smiled as she stood up too.
I walked to my room and pulled off my sweats before I laid in my bed, thinking of everything that happened today. I liked the new teammates. They were warming up to us quickly and I hoped that'd be a good sign. But then my mind wandered to Bucky. I wasn't expecting any of that. But what I wasn't expecting the most was the insanely amazing feeling when we kissed. My whole body responded and I groaned thinking about how that interaction ended. During the movies, I could feel him staring at me but I couldn't bring myself to make eye contact. I quickly fell asleep.
I woke up to screaming. I jumped up, immediately thinking of Bucky and ran out my room. When I realized the screaming was coming from the other direction my heart dropped. Sam. I took off running even faster, worried he was being hurt somehow. I threw his door open and saw him alone on his bed, thrashing around. The screaming stopped, instead he was crying. "I could've saved you, I'm sorry." My heart broke and I climbed into his bed.
"Sam? Hey, Sammy. It's Talia. I'm here. I got you." I pulled him up so his head was in my lap as I woke him up. He flinched as his eyes opened and realized it was me. He blinked in confusion and looked around. "Sounds like you had a nightmare. I got worried. It's okay, go back to sleep."
"I'm sorry I woke you up." He mumbled as he wrapped his arms around my legs and got comfortable. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw someone outside the open door, but when I looked again they were gone.
"No worries, go to sleep. I'm here." I grabbed his pillow and put it behind my bed and let his slow breathing lull me to sleep.
Flashback
"Something strong please, Nat."
"Boy troubles?" Natasha smiled at me as she poured me a drink.
I rolled my eyes. "More like lack their of." We both laughed together as Steve and Bruce approached us.
"Hey." Steve smiled and I couldn't help myself. No matter how annoyed I was at him, that smile would always melt me.
"Hey yourself."
"How'd a nice girl like you wind up working in a dump like this?" Steve and I both shot our looks at Bruce flirting.
"Fella done me wrong." Natasha smirked back as she poured another drink.
I raised an eyebrow at Steve and he shrugged as we watched their conversation. "You got a lousy taste in men, kid."
"He's not so bad. Well, he has a temper. Deep down he's all fluff. Fact is, he's not like anybody I've ever known. All my friends are fighters. And here comes this guy, spends his life avoiding the fight because he knows he'll win."
"Sounds amazing."
Natasha smiled and added. "He's also a huge dork." Bruce looked down at the ground, likely embarrassed. "Chicks dig that. So what do you think should I fight this, or run with it?"
"Run with it, right? Or, did he... Was he...? What did he do that was so wrong to you?"
"Not a damn thing. But never say never." She smiled before walking away.
Steve and I walked up to Bruce and Steve spoke first. "It's nice."
"What, what, what is?"
"You and Romanoff."
Bruce shook his head. "No, we haven't. That wasn't..."
Steve laughed. "It's okay. Nobody's breaking any by-laws. It's just, she's not the most... open person in the world. But with you she seems very relaxed."
"No, Natasha, she... she likes to flirt."
This time, I laughed. "Oh, no. I've seen her flirt, up close. This ain't that." I winked at him and Bruce's face turned pink.
"Look, as maybe the world's leading authority on 'waiting too long;' don't. You both deserve a win." Steve spoke before grabbing my hand and leading me away.
Bruce yelled after us. "Wait, what do you mean, 'up close?'"
Steve pulled me close to him and whispered in my ear. "You ever gonna tell Bruce what that meant?"
"Mmm... probably not." I smiled up at him and he leaned in, giving me a soft kiss.

I woke up and immediately felt the pain. I loved my boys, and I wanted to be there for them, but their nightmares were killing my neck. "Sam." I nudged him. "Sammy, wake up."
Sam just groaned and rolled off me. "Go away."
I giggled at his sleepy face and attitude. "I'm gonna go make some coffee. Want some?"
"Ugh." He didn't really answer but I knew that meant yes.
I kissed his forehead before walking out of the room. I realized I still wasn't wearing pants and opted to quickly stop in my room first. I made my way to the kitchen and started a pot of coffee. Once that was started, I grabbed the bottle of Advil and took some, trying to stretch my neck. I let out a groan and heard a voice behind me."Rough night?"
I turned and saw Bucky standing there, arms crossed and face showing no emotion. "Something like that." I grumbled. I looked back to watch the coffee brew.
"Yeah, I'd say so. You make out with me but then end up in someone else's bed."
