Eva stood up quickly. "Yes! I'll be right back!" With a brush of air she was gone. And a second later she was right back, holding a gorgeous red dress in her hands. "Here!" She smiled.
"I suppose I can head back to my room?" Wanda asked.
I nodded. "It's all set up for you." I hugged her again, my mind felt overwhelmed with the news of Angel's sister, but I was just so thankful she was back.
Wanda placed her hand against my cheek when I pulled away. "I'm glad to be back. Thank you for finding me."
Eva and Angel followed Wanda to her room, leaving just Steve, Bucky, and I. I let out a long breath and laid back on my bed, the boys sat next to me on either side. "So we're really going to do this?" Steve asked.
"We don't have a choice." Bucky answered for me. "Who are you going to call?"
"T'Challa." I sighed. "Let's hope that bridge isn't too burned."
"Sorry." Bucky grumbled.
I rolled over towards him. "It's not your fault, Buck. You did what you had to do. Besides. You're not the only one with a relationship with the Wakandans. I did spend a lot of time there myself, you might not remember seeing as you were an ice cube." I joked, poking his side.
Bucky gave me a smirk and leaned down to kiss me. It was a quick peck, I'm sure because Steve was in the room. It still made me feel just like the rest of them do. Loved. Safe. Home.
"Okay you two, go start the party without me. I've got a phone call to make." They walked out without another word, Steve hesitated by the doorway but never said anything. He left anyway.
I sighed as I picked up my phone and dialed T'Challa's number. He answered on the second ring. "Talia. What a surprise."
"Good afternoon, I hope this is a good time." I said awkwardly. Especially after the Bucky and Zeno situation, I was nervous.
"Please do not speak as if we aren't friends, Talia. How have you been?"
I let out a small laugh. "Oh, things have been pretty crazy."
"Professionally or personally?"
I laughed harder. "Both, if you can believe it."
"Is Captain Rodgers causing you trouble?"
"Well, he's no longer Captain America, actually. Sam took over. Steve... retired. Sort of."
There was a brief pause. "That is news to me. And you two still are..." he trailed off.
"Still broken up, yeah. So you know, any single men you want to throw my way..." I joked.
"M'Baku is unwed." T'Challa said sarcastically.
I laughed. "Last I checked, M'Baku doesn't like outsiders, but thanks."
"Well, if you're ever in Wakanda, I would be honored to take you on a date."
"A date? What about Nakia?"
T'Challa didn't answer right away and I got nervous. What if something happened to her? "She met someone while I was gone." The blip... Of course.
"T'Challa, I am so sorry..."
"You have nothing to apologize for. But I assume this wasn't just a social call?" He questioned.
"No." I hesitated. "We need a favor, actually."
"Ah. What can I do for you?"
"We need to find someone. We're hoping you and Shuri could help. Any way you could come to New York?"
There was a pause. "I'm assuming this is of grave importance?"
"We have some new... recruits. We've recently found out that Hydra has her sister. Or they did. When Wanda was there years ago."
"When should we arrive?"
I sighed with relief. "When can you?"
T'Challa chuckled. "We shall be there in the morning, Talia. Shuri will be thrilled, she's been asking to go for a visit."
"Thank you, T'Challa."
"You are most welcome." And the line ended. Thank goodness, that will be a lot of help. Now I can enjoy the party as much as I can.
I walked out to the living room and Wanda was the first to greet me. "I can do the same for you, take your worry away."
I shook my head. "No, I'll be okay. But thank you. Don't worry about helping people tonight, Wanda. Just enjoy yourself." I connected my phone to the Bluetooth speakers and put the playlist on shuffle.
"This ones mine! This was me!" Eva shouted, pulling Angel to the middle of the living room to dance. Wanda held her hand out to me, asking me to dance. I took it and we walked right next to Eva and Angel and started dancing together. Through out the song, the rest of our group joined us. Rhodey was the only one dancing with us. I saw Bruce standing alone by the bar. He missed Nat. I knew it.
The song changed to a slower song, so I walked to him. "May I have this dance?" I held out my hand and smiled at him.
"Talia, I don't dance..." He shook his head.
"Come on. For me?" I pleaded, and won. He took my hand and we went to the dance floor. I wrapped my arms around his waist as we just swayed back and forth. "I miss her too, all the time."
"I know." Bruce stated. I leaned against him, Bruce and I never had many one on one interactions, but through our grief I felt closer to him. He understood it, the aching feeling that would never go away.
I looked and saw Rhodey and Wanda dancing, along with Sam and Angel, Kai and Eva next to them. Kai looked like Eva dragged him into it, which was probably the case. Wanda and Bucky were sitting by the bar, looking at Bruce and I. I again thought of my broken family, how unlikely it would be in any other circumstance that we would be friends. And yet here we were, willing to do anything and everything for each other. Bucky and I made eye contact and he smirked. I blew him a kiss.
