A Heart Break In Time

The Universe Required Correction.

"Okay, Sam, Angel, Rhodey. Up in the sky." I nodded to them and they walked out first. "Check and make sure it's clear."

Rhodey went up first, flying a few feet above us. I heard him over the comms. "All good so far."

I turned to Sam and Angel. "Your turn." Angel gave me a nervous smile before Sam took her hand. They looked at each other and then took off. The rest of us watched them go.

"No one is outside." Sam spoke.

"There's two guards on the inside of that door closest to you." Angel added.

I double tapped my comms. "Angel, do you hear her?"

"Yes. She's towards the west side of the building. It's mostly clear until that point."

"Great. Eva, Wanda, Kai." I gestured for them to go ahead. Eva ran forward, I saw the smallest smirk on Wanda's face. I wonder if Eva's speed felt comforting to her. Kai kept a straight face, walking after them.

I turned to Bucky after double tapping my comms. "Just me and you, Sarge. You ready?"

Bucky nodded and walked ahead of me. We were right outside the door when we heard Angel on the comms. "They don't even know you're there." Perfect. I looked at Bucky and we nodded before both turning to kick the doors open. He grasped the man on the left's gun before he had time to shoot, yanking it from his hands.

I quickly bent down, sweeping the one on the right's legs out from under him, and then punching him with my full force, knocking him out.

I double tapped my comms. "Anyone else until we reach her?"

"No... There's no one anywhere around her."

Bucky activated his comms. "Are you sure? There was someone with me at all times..." he deactivated his comms.

"She's asleep. I hear her dreams." Angel explained. Maybe that's why, don't need a guard if she's unconscious. Yet, that didn't seem right to me. But we continued on. I double tapped my comms again.

With Angel's directions, Bucky and I approached the room. Bucky nodded at me before walking in first, aiming his gun and looking around. "Clear. Come on." I followed after him and we walked around a large metal desk with an outdated computer on it. Sitting on a metal chair a few feet back, she was in fact alone. Her brown hair was cut short, and ragged. It hadn't been washed in a while. She was asleep. I turned to Bucky.

"You okay?"

"I'm fine."

He was lying, obviously. But I'd worry about that later. I double tapped my comms. "We got eyes on her, we'll start to he-SHIT!" I yelled as we started to be shot at. Bucky and I both dived behind the desk and looked at each other, silently trying to figure out what to do.

"Only the one exit." Bucky spoke over the bullets.

I nodded. "No windows. FRIDAY, any ideas?"

"At the moment, no. The walls surrounding that room are solid concrete and would take some time to break through."

"We don't have time." Bucky spoke through gritted teeth. And he was right, bullets were starting to pass through the desk. It was only a matter of time before one of us got shot.

I looked at him and grabbed his hand, kissing it before I jumped up before Bucky could stop me, and aimed my repulsors them. "Give it all we got, FRIDAY!" And they fired. A large beam of light exploded out and I watched as the door completely shot off the hinges. Everything was so bright, I couldn't see anything. I could, however, feel the bullets trying to pierce my armor. Thank you, Tony.

Once the bullets stopped, so did I. And Bucky pulled me down with a pissed expression. "Talia, why the fuck would you do that?"

"Shut up, we don't have time." I cut him off, he could lecture me later. Just then I heard a familiar voice from the doorway.

"Talia!"

I turned to see Kai running towards me. "Kai? What the hell!"

"You screamed." He explained, before grabbing me and looking at the the bullet indents, he must've realized I was okay because he pulled me for a hug.

"You're not supposed to-"

I was cut off by the sound of footsteps coming towards us. Too many to be our people. I quickly turned to the wall. "FRIDAY, I need a new doorway, now please!" My hands and chest started to glow again as it shot out the repulsors towards the back wall. The footsteps getting closer and slowing down. "Shit, shit, shit." I muttered as Bucky and Kai prepared themselves in front of me with a foolish attempt to guard me as I tried to make an exit. The wall collapsed and I turned to Kai. "Get her out, now. Get back to the ship. And stay there." I ordered.

"I'm not leaving you."

"That's a fucking order, Kai. NOW!" I snapped back before turning to the approaching enemies. Bucky turned the desk vertically so we could cover behind it but still fire back. We stood with our backs to each other as Kai started to run out with Maria. He gave one as look at us. "We'll be there. Go. Now."

I turned to Bucky. "Something's wrong. Angel didn't warn us."

"I know." Was all he said. And then the footsteps stopped.
