A Heart Break In Time

Is That Anybody's Sandwich? I'm Starving.

We could see the compounds landing site and saw Maria and Angel pacing, waiting for us. As soon as they saw us, they started jumping.

We landed and all made our way out and Angel immediately ran to wrap her arms around Sam and started crying. "I was so worried, I didn't want to leave but-"

Sam grabbed her arms and pushed her away. "We're all fine."

Angel's face dropped, the sudden realization of the rejection was written all over it. Sam himself looked heartbroken too. I wish I could fix this for them, I don't think I've seen either of them smile since...

Angel turned to me and cleared her throat, attempting to compose herself. "I meant it, I really didn't want to leave you all. It didn't feel right."

"We're okay. And we got Bucky back." I gestured to Bucky who was talking to Steve. He had a huge smile on his face as he leaned in to hug Steve. "How are you feeling?" I turned to Maria.

"I'm okay... shaken up I think, but okay. Angel said I needed to get away right away because I probably have trigger words?" Maria tilted her head as she looked to Angel for confirmation.

Angel nodded and I answered. "Yes, when Bucky was The Winter Soldier, he had trigger words that would activate the brain washing. But Shuri was able to undo that, so likely we may ask her to do it again, if you want. I'm not sure how much more complicated it will be when we don't know your triggers, though. That'll be a Shuri conversation for later."

Maria smiled. "Thank you."

"All right, everyone go relax. It's way past time for that." I looked over at Bucky and smiled. "Tomorrow will be family movie night, everyone be sure to pick your favorites and we'll all vote on them."

"I call dibs on first shower." Bucky joked. He walked towards me and placed his hand on the side of my face. He leaned in, gently kissing my lips before smirking and walking away to the showers. It felt like butterflies filled my entire body. I felt weightless and in love. I watched as he walked away, forgetting everyone around me.

Until Sam cleared his throat. I looked over at him, and saw Steve beside him, looking at the ground. Aw fuck, I wasn't ready to deal with that. "I Uh, I'm gonna go change. Relax for a while." I looked around nervously. "Pizza for dinner good for everyone?"

The team gave a few mummers of agreement. "Great." I clapped my hands awkwardly. "Okay, I'm out." And I walked back to my room, cursing myself for this uncomfortable situation I've managed to get into. Stupid time travel.

I changed out of my clothes and went put on a big t shirt and pants but second guessed it, deciding what I really needed was a long hot shower. I remembered that's where Bucky was going and smiled. Well, that'd be a nice benefit.

I grabbed the towel I hung up in my room and wrapped it around my body and opened my door. Only to be greated by Bucky, hand raised like he was about to knock on my door. "Oh." I smiled, happy to see him. He just froze, surprised. My smile dropped when I noticed he was not so happy to see me. "Bucky? What's wrong?"

"I found a note in my pocket." He held up his other hand, holding the crumbled up piece of paper with messy handwriting.

"Why would someone leave you a note?" I stepped back into my room, holding my towel as I sat on the edge of my bed. This made no sense. They had him, couldn't they have just woken him up if they wanted to talk to him?

Bucky held the note out to me and spoke very low and quietly. "The note isn't for me."
