A Heart Break In Time

So Stop This Shit. We're The Avengers, Get It Together.

I walked out of my room after changing into some leggings and a tank top. Sam, Eva, and Angel were all in the living room waiting. "Just waiting on Kai?" I looked around.

"I'm here." Kai spoke from behind me.

I turned and smiled, still feeling a bit awkward about our earlier interaction. "Great. Let's go." I lead the way to the garage and grabbed the keys to the Toyota. Pepper told us that we could use any of the cars that Tony left, but the Toyota has always been my baby. I unlocked it and climbed in the drivers seat. Sam offered Angel the passenger seat and she blushed and smiled at him. I raised my eyebrow at him and he winked. Oh, guess he's moved on from me fast. One less thing to worry about.

"Where were we going?" Angel asked as I pulled out the driveway.

"Aren't you the mind reader?"

Angel smiled. "Professional curtesy, remember?" She tapped her temple.

"Not with me, I'm wide open. Honestly, the less I have to talk, the better."

"Good to know."

Now where do you want to go? I thought, smirking. Angel responded with a laugh and then spoke aloud. "Let's just do a mall?"

Mall is fine, but we're staying together.

"We can do girls with girls, boys stay with boys?"

"Hey, there's three other people here that would like to talk too!" Sam groaned.

I rolled my eyes and glanced at him through the rear view mirror. "We're going to the mall. Angel wanted us to split up, but since I'm the one with the credit card, you're all stuck with me."

"Great." Sam smiled and Angel let out a small giggle before turning to look at Kai. I saw the exchange and realized I must not be the only one who's opened their head to Angel and the idea made me smile. The three of them already have a bond, a team in the making.

Flashback

I watched as Steve started to shave off his beard. He hadn't shaved since we lost. Most of us just... stopped everything. There didn't seem much reason to continue anything. But the world kept on turning. He finished shaving and turned to me and gave me half a smile. I did my best to return it when I noticed the mirror shaking. "Steve?"

He turned to look and we rushed to run outside. I turned to Natasha who was already outside with Bruce. "What's going on?"

"I don't know." Natasha replied.

Rhodey stood next to me. "Do we think it's Thanos?"

"He won. Why would he come back?" I replied. We stood and waited as we saw a ship land, being pushed by a blonde woman I hadn't met. The entry hatch opened and we all tensed up, ready to fight when I saw Tony and a blue Android walk out. She was holding Tony up and I could tell he wasn't well. "Tony! Oh my god!" I ran to him and Steve followed, grabbing his other arm to hold him up as I wrapped my arms around him. "Tony. Oh my god. You're alive."

Tony looked to Steve. "Couldn't stop him."

"Neither could I."

"I lost the kid." Peter. My heart sunk as I realized what he meant.

I pulled away from him. "Tony, we lost. We all did."

"Talia. I'm so glad you're here... Is, uh...?"

Just then Pepper ran put and threw her arms around him. "Oh, my God! Oh, my God!" She cried as Tony held her.

"It's okay."
