Walking the streets of New Orleans began to feel like a chore to Luna. The streets she used to adore had been overshadowed by a threat that started to feel like a figment of her imagination.

With slouched shoulders, she strode down the streets lined with coffeehouses and stores, mindlessly weaving through the swarms of people splitting off in different directions.

The thoughts that consumed her meant her search was in vain. She stalked the streets hoping someone would challenge her, and once it finally happened, she didn't even realise.

Luna's name broke through the never-ending sounds that leaked from a bustling city. She spun around and quickly caught the eyes latched onto her.

It wasn't anyone she recognised. A young woman with dark eyes and hair, and an unblemished face. Her red lips curled up into a smile, gesturing to the seat across from her before stirring her coffee carefully. Luna stared at her through narrowed eyes, looking around her as if she were expecting an ambush.

She walked over slowly, calculating her next moves with each small step she took. Luna didn't sit down, but she stood up a little straighter when she approached the woman. She wasn't afraid of a Gemini witch, and the arrival of one affirmed the suspicions she began to doubt; That was the only thing she appreciated.

What she didn't like was the indiscernible look etched onto her face that incited a worry Luna wasn't comfortable dwelling with, 'Please,' She gestured towards the seat again, 'Sit down.'

The metal chair legs scraped across the concrete, and Luna sat down, watching as she sipped her coffee like they were friends meeting for breakfast, 'I should kill you.' Luna spat out, glowering at the woman who wasn't phased by the comment.

'You could, but you're not stupid. You're reckless, but not stupid,' She spoke with conviction, and Luna hated how her words were spoken like she had any authority to speak on her character. 'Look around. Are you going to kill me on a busy street?'

'High risk, high reward.'

She breathed out a humourless laugh, her fingertip running along the rim of her mug absently while her eyes scanned Luna exhaustively, 'What do you want?' Luna spoke again before the witch could utter another word.

'We made our terms clear, and you ignored the choice we gave you—'

'It wasn't much of a choice,' Luna cut her off, folding her arms over her chest and leaning back as far as she could. 'The choice was to give up my daughter, or let you kill her. Seems like a shitty trade.'

'We weren't going to kill her,' The woman spoke, the arrogance she spoke with morphing into a sharp cadence, 'We were going to kill you.'

'Were?' repeated Luna, 'Have you had a change of heart after stalking me for a century?'

'Not exactly,' The woman took another sip of her coffee, 'We'll let nature run its course. We don't have to do anything anymore.'

Luna laughed, 'Well, I'm immortal, so you're gonna be waiting a while.'
