After 90 years of running, it had to come to an end. She found herself in Mystic Falls, a place she'd be dreading to go to but it was bound to happen. Luna Salvatore, the youngest Salvatore, arrived in Mystic Falls. Little did she know, her coming t...

'Would this sister's name, by any chance, be Aurora?' Luna asked carefully. It was a guess, but the name would elicit a reaction from Elijah, and then she'd know whether her assumption was correct or not.
But she was right. His jaw set, and his eyes drifted around the room. He avoided her glare for a moment, 'Elijah...' she trailed off.
'How do you know?' He asked quietly, watching the door and listening for any footsteps lingering outside the room. Luna moved to the chair beside him, dropping into it with a sigh.
She brought the glass to her lips, 'Lucien told me.'
'Lucien?' His brows tugged into a frown. He shifted his body to face her, speaking in a hushed tone with an urgency fuelled by confusion, 'When?'
'A couple of days ago. I haven't said anything yet. I don't know if I should.' Luna sighed, thinking back to her conversation with Lucien and how certain he was that she would be back.
The past few days taught her that ignorance is bliss. That lesson had solidified itself in a way that a century of living couldn't. There was nothing she could do but endure.
But she didn't want to.
Even if she screamed that she didn't want to until her throat was raw, a new mess to dig through would land in her path, in all of their paths, blocking them from the peaceful life they longed for.
'I don't want to get in the middle of this—'
'Well, too fucking bad. You got yourself in the middle of this when you brought it up.' Luna snapped, looking over her shoulder at the door once the words left her mouth too loudly.
When she turned back to face Elijah, she realised it didn't matter if they tried to conceal the conversation they were having — the truth would unearth itself sooner or later.
He sighed loudly, charging all his exasperation into a single sigh before answering in a soft tone, 'What exactly did Lucien tell you?'
'He told me that Aurora was his first love, and that I'd never measure up.' Luna said, her anger leading to exaggeration.
Elijah scoffed, shaking his head slightly. Luna felt like she might have to clarify she was stretching Lucien's words into hyperbole, but he spoke before she had the chance. 'And you believe him?'
'I don't know what to believe. But given your reaction to her name alone, I don't think he was far off.' Luna countered cautiously. He pulled his tie forcefully, taking a deep breath, and then undoing the top button.
The stiffness in his shoulders and reluctance to answer concerned Luna in a way she didn't think was consolable.
'The only person you should be having this conversation with is Niklaus. Anybody else will deceive you.' Elijah replied solemnly, his eyes burning into Luna's face like the intensity of the stare would brand the words inside her brain.
