The train came into view and I watched for a second as a Dauntless born ran and grabbed hold of the train pushing a button to open the other doors of the train. I nudged Beatrice and took off running, catching the other Dauntless born and easily pulling myself onto the train with them. I found myself in a car with three Dauntless born, two girls and a boy. The boy is handsome, dark skin and dark hair with a white smile which he shot me upon seeing my grey dress. He just nods at me and the two girls shoot me a friendly smile both being around my height. Both with brown hair they looked like they could have been sisters had it not been for the shapes of their faces and their eyes. I watched out of the open door as the city flew past us under my feet and I loved every second of it.
I soon watched black clad figures landing on a roof and realized that we would have to jump off the train. I stood as the others did and when they jumped I did too. I tucked into my jump and was pleased to roll a bit and get up unscathed. I joined the group of Dauntless born sixteen year olds who all stood near the edge of the building in front of two people. Both men, taller than me with short hair. One clearly worked out, with piercing cold blue eyes and piercings on his face. I caught sight of tattoos running down his neck and on his exposed forearms. I watched shock cross his face when he saw me and the other man motioned to point me out to him as the other transfers finally joined us.
"My name is Eric and in order to enter Dauntless you must jump." I heard the transfers shuffle and scoff. I heard someone ask if there was something at the bottom to catch us. I didn't care. I was thrilled at the idea of free falling.
"So who's first?" No one made a move to go first and then I heard it. Beatrice.
"Me." She climbed up on the edge. Dropped her jacket and some asshole catcalled her saying take it off and then to put it back on. She took a deep breath and then she was gone. I let out a laugh and scampered up onto the ledge after her. I turned to meet the eyes of everyone else on the roof and again found that stupid look on their faces.
"Can I jump?" I asked the cold eyed man who had introduced himself as Eric. He just blankly nodded at me and I smiled as I launched myself backwards off the roof still looking at them all before flatting out to fall. I felt the air rush past me and I had never felt so free in my life. I giggled as I fell and I knew they could hear me, I didn't care. The fall was over before I knew it as I hit the net. I continued to giggle as someone helped me out of the net, and I was met with blue eyes surrounded by long eyelashes.
"What's your name?" The man asked as I stood. I smile at this familiar face only two years older than me. I knew him from Abnegation.
"You would know me as Gabby Dristen but let's go with Wren." I saw recognition cross his face and heard him call out.
"Second jumper! Wren." I looked to find Beatrice and stood with her.
"You changed your name too." she noted as I got closer. I nodded.
"Wren always seemed to fit me better. A nickname from my brother before he left, you?"
"Tris"
"Much better for you." We laughed as the rest of the new initiates jumped down to join us. Slowly we all gathered and I was introduced to the other girl Tris had made friends with, Christiana. She was a Candor transfer I had seen around school before, a beautiful dark skinned girl who stood a little taller than both Tris and I.
"My name is Four. I will be your instructor."
"Four? Like the number?" Christina asked and I winced. She should know better than to let her Candor show. I watched as Four got close to her and told her to watch herself but my ears had picked up on a different conversation. One that had to do with me.
"She looks like Wayne doesn't she. Shorter but they have the same face. Is it possible he got a girl pregnant in his old faction?" I turned slightly to see who was whispering about me and found it to be two Dauntless members. I felt a tug on my arm and realized I had missed what Four had said and Tris was pulling me along with them.
