The simulation ended when Marlene hit the pavement below us. Hector snapped out of it as Lynn rushed to take him from me. The little girl's parents came and collected her from Christina and Tris just sat there. I had to find Uriah, I knew they were dating and he would be the hardest hit by the loss. I made my way back into the compound and made my way to Zeke's room, that's where I found Uriah. He had seen the whole thing happen, watched her fall from the roof while he could do nothing to save her. We sat on the floor of Zeke's apartment, my arm around his shoulders as he sobbed into my chest. We spent the night like that, eventually falling asleep on the floor together.
Breakfast brought news. Some of the cameras in the dorm had not been painted over which had allowed Jeanine the access that she needed. As we sat together at breakfast Lynn thanked me for saving Hector, Shauna did too but for whatever reason she chose to sit away from us. Tris joins us and not long after Four comes as well. As we ate I watched Four analyze Tris.
"Don't make any decisions before we talk about it." Four mumbled to Tris, I caught it and immediately realized that he was under the impression that she was going to sacrifice herself to save everyone.
"Your Abnegation is showing." I whispered in her ear. She gave me a light shove and ignored me.
"We should do something," Uriah said. "We shouldn't just sit around and wait for them to attack again, we should strike first." There were cheers from around the cafeteria.
"I hear you, but for now we will increase security to make sure this doesn't happen again." Four announced and then he exited the room. Tris followed after him and soon I was the only one left sitting there. I searched my pockets and pulled out Wayne's key. I hadn't seen him since we had gotten back and I was hoping he was still on fence duty. I made my way to his apartment, unlocking the door and locking it behind me. My first action was to take a shower. I cried in the shower for a very long time. Marlene and I had been close, it hurt to lose her, it hurt to watch Uriah hurt over her. I finally pulled myself out of the shower and managed to dry off and get dressed. I pulled on a large sweater of Wayne's and some comfy pants he had gotten for me.
I made the couch into a comfortable spot and stayed there for the rest of the day. I must have fallen asleep at some point because when I woke up Wayne had me in his arms and was carrying me to his room.
"You're back." I whispered looking up at him, he hummed in response and I threw my arms around him. "I'm so glad you're here." I whispered as I hugged him. Wayne returned the hug and then set me down on his bed.
"I'm glad to see you made it. I heard that a lot of Abnegation members were shot in Amity. I was worried they might have gotten you." He pulled me into a real hug this time and I cried into his chest. He comforted me as I recounted the last few days of my life, getting shot and watching Marlene die. We sat in silence until I had calmed down enough to breathe again.
"I should head back to the dorm, I have to keep an eye on everyone." Wayne nodded as I got up to leave. I made my way out of his room after changing into something easier to fight and run in. I closed the door to his apartment and to my surprise I was met with Tris in the hallway headed back to the dorm.
"You're going to Erudite aren't you." I said as we moved through the halls.
"You can't stop me."
"I wasn't going to, I'm coming with you." Tris and I made our way back to the dorm, she stopped to shake Christina awake.
"I'm going with Wren to visit Caleb, she needs to find out if her parents are there." Christina just nodded, "I know the reason why Erudite attacked Abnegation the first time. Abnegation has some information and they were going to act on it. I need your help to convince Marcus to tell us what that information is." Christina looked at both of us this time she found nothing but the truth in our eyes.
