Lynn called over to Hector and I watched as Tris was introduced to him. He took off again to join the game at the same time I left the kids to keep playing. I approached at the same time as Marlene and Uriah, I caught the tail end of the conversation .
"The surveillance team is going to the Hancock building tonight." Uriah said.
"I'm in." Tris said immediately.
"I might join you, I've been having a hard time sleeping." I added in. I laid back down on a bed close to where the others were talking and tried to pretend we were back in initiation. My body relaxed as the voices of my friends filled my ears and for a while I tricked myself into thinking I was back in Dauntless before everything went to hell. Soon the room quieted down and all I heard was shuffling as those on surveillance duty got ready to go for the night. Uriah shook me and I sat up. He handed me a gun and a knife before heading out of the room. I made my way out behind him and found a small group still getting ready. We managed to reach the first floor and gather with the others in front of the doors. Just as someone moved to open the door the sound of gunfire and breaking glass filled my ears. We all took cover as best we could and got into position to return fire.
The Erudite Dauntless entered the building, we exchanged bullets until I watched Tris get hit but she didn't go down. I found a small disk lodged in her body. Before I could go to pull it out the room started filling with smoke. Everyone started to drop and the Erudite Dauntless made their way up the stairs. The smoke cleared and Tris and I stood facing each other, we moved to follow the traitors upstairs each grabbing a blue armband to try and blend in. Uriah meets us on the second floor. We motioned to him to be silent and to go upstairs.
"Get them out." I whispered to him before he took off up the stairs to the third floor. Tris and I split up, each checking to find more divergent people. I spotted Eric as he and some others dragged a Candor woman away as she wailed. I followed behind them trying to find any other divergents by nudging them gently as I went past. I froze when I could no longer hear the wails of the woman Eric had taken.
"Well well well look what we have here." I jumped at the sound of Eric's voice in my ear and turned to face him. Before I could raise my gun he had me disarmed hands pinned against the wall above my head. My feet were off the ground and I tried to kick him to no avail, he grabbed one of my legs and hiked it around his waist effectively stopping my escape.
"I told you I would catch you, little one." He whispered, letting his eyes rake over my body. "Where are your little friends?" He asked, looking around, "No matter, I think it's time I got my reward for catching you." His lips were on mine before I could question what he meant. His kiss was punishing and demanding, nothing like the kisses we had shared before. Yet my body betrayed me and I kissed him back. I was screaming at myself to stop, to be disgusted but the part of me that was dying for human contact after Four hurt me had taken over.
"That's what I expect after so much time waiting for you." He whispered against my lips. I didn't stop him as he kissed me again hungrily, shifting his weight to push his body fully against mine. His groan vibrated my entire body as he pushed up against me, a small whimper having left my mouth as he crushed me. "I would love to continue and do more but right now we have other things to attend to." He whispered to me in a husky lust filled voice. He let my feet hit the ground but before he released my hands he cuffed them in front of my body.
My brain snapped back into action as I tried to tug my wrists apart.
"Sorry sweetheart but I can't have you running away again." He chuckled and led me towards the others. I fought him every step of the way but Eric was too strong for me to fight off alone. The group had managed to catch Uriah and Tris as well as a little Candor girl, Tris is still fighting.
"You know Stiff, it was my idea to put you in that tank. I remember it from your fears." Eric boasted as he watched Tris struggle. "My orders are to take two divergent back with me for testing." He throws me down next to Tris as he starts examining the others. "Unfortunately these young ones are pretty useless. Their brains are fully developed." Other Dauntless execute the young ones one by one. Before they got to the last little girl I managed to get my feet under me and lunged in front of the girl taking the bullet in my shoulder instead of in her head.
"You idiot," Eric tsked at me as he pulled me off the ground. "You really had to go and hurt yourself. Now I have to make an excuse as to why I brought three home instead of two. I don't like getting questioned for not following orders." He dragged me back over to Tris and dropped me next to her. "Your brain isn't developed enough yet either, but I won't feel bad ending your life." As Eric raised his gun and pointed at her head Tris lunged forward a knife in her hand. She stabbed Eric right in the heart. Eric fell as the divergent began running for their lives, we were kicking as Tris cut my hands free and I cut hers. Luckily for us our Dauntless burst into the room guns blazing. The fight lasted a few minutes, the Erudite Dauntless unprepared for the push back ran. Four scooped me up off the ground to Tris right behind him as he rushed me to get treated by a medical team. The pain had finally gotten to me as my vision blurred and the faded voices of Four and Tris were screaming at me to stay awake.
