She was happily chatting about her friends and what Amity is like but stopped when Four found us in the middle of the orchard.
"Wren where have you been?" He asked me, calm in his tone but I could see the anger in his eyes.
"Don't worry about me Four I can take care of myself." I started to walk again but this time Four grabbed my arm.
"You disappeared! Do you know how worried I've been?" He asked this time his tone was desperate.
"Oh really worried I'm sure, with Tris tucked up in your bed like I was only a few nights ago." I whirled around to face him, the anger and hurt evident on my face this time. He dropped my arm and took a step back, having never seen me angry before. "Sure Tobias. I am so sorry to have worried you when you didn't even know I was missing until Peter tried to steal something from Tris. If they hadn't gotten into a fight you never would have even noticed, you only have eyes for her. And you know what? I bet she wouldn't be so quick to fall into your bed or trust you if she knew days ago you had been whispering the same sweet nothings in my ear half naked in your bed. Maybe I should tell her, the difference is I was nothing more than a distraction until you could have her. Because you don't love me but I sure as hell loved you." At this point I was screaming in the middle of the orchard. The little girl was tagging on my hand trying to pull me away from Four.
"Wren..." He started.
"I don't want to hear it, Tobias. I begged you not to play with my feelings. I actually thought I had a chance with you. God I am so stupid. I was in love with you since the day I met you in Abnegation. I have protected you and Tris. I should have just stayed away from you. You should have left me alone." I was sobbing again, this time I let the little girl lead me away.
"Wren!" Four yelled out as she started running, leading me through the orchard in the way only and Amity would know. I saw a flash on Four behind as he kept calling my name, I saw a flash of Tris as we broke through the front of the orchard but the little girl didn't stop as Tris glanced at us. The blissed out look on her face changed just for a moment when she saw the tears streaming down mine but I was gone before she could process it. Four was crashing his way through the trees not far behind us but I knew he would stop when he found Tris.
We ended up in a meadow. She pulled me into the tree line and we sat hidden behind a bush. I played with the other children for a while, they were playing hide and seek and thought that I didn't know how to play. As the sky started to grow darker I left the children to change out of my pjs and to take a shower before heading to dinner. I silently made my way into the house and reached the bathroom without running into anyone. I made my way back to my room and found the door shut. I opened it to find Tris opening it from the other side.
"Hey where have you been all day?" She asked me, the blissed out look on her face no longer there.
"I was helping with the children today. They rise early/ Where were you this morning?" I questioned, acting normal. It wasn't her fault that Four had played games with me and I wasn't going to blame her.
"Oh I had a nightmare and was in Caleb's room." She lied to me but when I turned to look at her I could tell she was lying.
"Well give me a second to get dressed, then I want to show you something." I said. I pulled on my black pants and boots once more, I also pulled on a tight fitting green tank top that hugged my body in the right places. I pulled my hair up into a messy bun and we headed off to the orchard. Tris followed me into the trees but we stopped as soon as we heard the sound of cars.
"Do you hear that?" I asked her
"Yea sounds like cars?"
We hurried to climb up a tree and as we reached the top we spied Erudite cars in the distance. We both dropped out of the trees we were in and took off running.
"Go warn Four and the others, I'm going to pack up supplies and grab the gun under your bed." I yelled to her as we split in opposite directions. I was packing up small bags for everyone with a change of clothes in the darkest colors possible when Tris bursts back into the house.
"What did you do with the hard drive?"
"Nothing, I left it under your pillow." I said as I threw her the go bag with her clothes. She caught the bag and headed to the room. I heard the sound of smashing and assumed it was her destroying the hard drive.
"Come on we need to go back to everyone else, They have blended in as best as they can but we can't be found here." Tris said as she led me out of the house and back to the group. We made it into the building and were sitting down at the table before the Erudite even pulled up. We watched as Dauntless members began pouring out of the cars. They began a standard sweep of the area, entering buildings to search for us. I quickly let my hair down to cover my tattoos and shifted so that my black pants and boots were less obvious. Tris pulled on a jacket Caleb passed her under the table to hide her tattoos as well.
"We are here looking for fugitives. Dauntless members. These Dauntless are dangerous, they have kidnapped another member as well as slaughtered Abnegation members." I heard Eric's voice boom through the building. I stiffened and caught Tris's eyes, Eric would spot Four or I it was inevitable.
"If he sees us, run. Don't stop, get to the trains and make it back to the city." I mouthed to her. She nodded her head lightly and turned to keep an eye on Eric as traitors of Dauntless made their way through the crowd. One of them stopped in front of Four.
