The sun began to set and the sounds of the fighting had died down by the time I was able to drag myself away from Peter. He had fallen asleep as I watched the clouds travel the sky, and I had shaken him awake once the colors of the sun started to darken. We stood at the edge of the roof looking out on the city.

"It must have been beautiful once." I said, not directly to Peter but more to the city itself.

"It would have been with you in it." Peter replied as he stared at me, watching the sunlight catch my hair at the right angle to make it look like fire.

"You never would have known me." I laughed as I turned to face him, staring up into his green eyes.

"I would have searched the city until I did." I shook my head at him.

"You do have a way with words Peter but you were no Candor that's for sure."

"I am for you." Peter whispered as he got closer to me.

His face was inches from mine and he tangled a hand in the hair at the back of my neck before his lips gently brushed mine. This kiss was different from any of the other kisses I had experienced before. This kiss was like a confession, a promise. Finally he pulled away from me and my eyes fluttered open to meet him, for the first time the only emotion I saw in his eyes was love. I felt my face heat up as his eyes searched my face for any negative feelings about the way he had kissed me before he did it again. This time I wrapped my arms around his neck and allowed him to pull me up to sit on the ledge while he stood between my legs without ever breaking the kiss.

It felt like hours as we shared kiss after kiss while the sun set. The last few rays of light were lingering in the sky when we heard a siren. We jolted away from each other and Peter kept a grip on my waist so that I didn't tople off the ledge to the ground below.

"I guess that was Evelyn's way of letting us know when curfew is about to take effect." Peter grumbled as he stole one last kiss.

"Come on Candor we have to go, I can't afford to get into any more trouble with Evelyn." I said as I hoped down off the ledge and scurried to the door.

"Are you going back to Dauntless or are you going to your parents?" I asked Peter as we descended the stairs.

"I've been staying with my parents in Candor, Four had been staying in Erudite headquarters so I assume Tris is too now. Are you going back to stay with your brother?"

"I don't really have anywhere else to stay. Tris is probably going to stay with Christina, she'll want to be close but Evelyn wouldn't let her stay right under her nose like that." I laughed a little at the idea.

"You could always stay with me." Peter offered as we walked quickly through the streets as everyone began to hurry home. A lot of people had been displaced with the change of regimes. I too felt like I didn't have a defined home anymore.

"I couldn't put your parents out like that, besides Wayne is finally back from the fence and Dauntless has been home for a while now. Maybe you should come back some time." I winked at him and stuck out my tongue before I took off to catch the train back. Peter watched me go with a smile on his face.

Tris caught me before I could catch the train, she pulled me into the shadows and out of sight.

"We have a problem." She whispered.

"What happened?"

"The Allegiant found me tonight. They want me to meet them at Candor headquarters tomorrow at midnight."

"So we go and meet them. Four said it was probably Johanna and she probably wants our help. We're safer with them and we are with Evelyn. You saw what happened today."

"You headed back to Dauntless?"

"I don't have anywhere else to go. You could come with me? Wayne has a super comfortable couch." I nudged her playfully. She shook her head.

"Caleb's trial is tomorrow. I want to stay close."

"I'll be here bright and early and we can go together." I gave her a slight hug and began my trip back home. I made it way past curfew but lucky for me I knew how to sneak into the compound without getting caught. When I opened the door to the apartment this time the lights were on and Wayne was standing with his back towards me talking to a woman I had never seen before. I slammed the door loudly behind me so they knew they weren't alone anymore. Wayne whipped around and I could see the look of relief wash across his face.

"Wren." Wayne crossed the room in three large steps and swept me up into his arms. "Are you okay? Where have you been all this time?" He set me down and I turned to face the blonde woman on his couch.

"Wayne, who is this?" I questioned as I took in her appearance. She was not someone I was familiar with and she didn't look Dauntless. Her blonde hair was up in a messy bun while her long legs were covered by blue jeans. She had on boots like the ones all Dauntless wore but her shirt was a lang yellow sweater. She looked confident that she belonged in my brother's apartment and I didn't like her one bit.

"This is Melissa, she was a Dauntless born initiate when I transfered. She dropped out when they pulled her older brother out of the chasm."

"He was divergent." I stated as I watched her eyes for the truth. Her eyes flashed with suspicion and then understanding.

"You're the one Evelyn has been running her mouth about." Melissa chuckled. "The one who is more brave than the girl dating her son. She hates you but you have her respect. She would rather you be the one to give her grandbabies." My face flushed and I nodded.

"What are you here Melissa?"

"I needed to talk to Wayne about some stuff. He's been running security around here." I eyed her suspiciously. "No worries Evelyn doesn't know I'm here and I don't work for that witch." I relaxed a little.

"Well feel free to finish your conversation. I'm going to get some sleep. I've been sleeping in everything but a bed the last couple of days." I said as I headed towards Wayne's bed and shut the door. I plopped down on the bed and almost wished I could have gone to Four or Eric's apartments instead.
