Chapter 5- Swimming Pool Girl

Y/n sat at a lunch table the next day before school with Hu Tao, who was finishing homework.
She spotted a blonde head of hair, and got up, walking over to meet him.

"How are you?" She waved at him, catching his attention.

"Ah, great. Thanks for your help... ah, I have your umbrella! Here!" He thrusted his arms out- which gripped the umbrella- towards Y/n.

"Oh, thank you," Y/n's attention shifted to a blonde girl approaching.

"Oh, Aether. Who is this?" She slung a hand over the boy- Aether's shoulder.

"Uh..."

Y/n smiled, "we're... friends? I haven't met you. I'm Y/n."

"My name is Lumine," Lumine smiled softly, then, "do you want to sit with us at lunch. I'll introduce you to some friends."

"Oh- okay, I'd love that," Y/n beamed.

Y/n had literature next, Aether noticed. He was beginning to notice her around frequently, and... her beauty.
So, he couldn't help himself from grinning like a dork when she recited the piece of poetry that the teacher assigned.
Why was she so amazing?

Y/n packed her belongings at the end of class, preparing to head off for the next one.... Which was, independent study. That meant she could take as long as she wanted.

She wandered to the school pool, she didn't mind the smell of chlorine, and she enjoyed watching the swimmers. She sat on the bleachers.

A new group dived into the pool. Y/n's attention went straight to a pale, curvy girl gliding along in the water swiftly, her black pigtails trailing behind her.
So instead of studying, Y/n drew the beautiful girl, somewhat badly. But, she was still recognisable.

After finishing and gazing at her work. She perked up, in surprise, instantly realising that she was being creepy.
She pursed her lips and shoved the paper into her bag. Then heard a sound from behind her.

"Oh, Y/n! I've been looking for you," Lumine grinned and gestured to a dark haired boy, "this is Xiao. My friend."

"I know," Y/n glanced at him. He promptly looked away.
"Where's Aether?"

"Ah, he's coming. I wanted to introduce you to my best friend Amber. Ya' know, tall-ish, brunette with a massive red bow in her hair?"

"No, I've never seen her."

Lumine plopped onto her bottom next to Y/n and Xiao sat on the bleacher behind them.

She noticed that Y/n was gazing at the swimmers in the pool, "do you swim?"

"No, I never have and never will."

"Huh."

From behind them Xiao asked, "why do you come to the poolside then?"

"I don't know..."

They needed up, in silence, reading books, and actually studying.
Then the bell rang for the next period and the group jumped up.

Y/n was looking at the swimmers climbing out of the pool, and in her daze, tripped, falling into the water, knocking Xiao in beside her.

"Ah, bleh..." Y/n spluttered at Lumine, who was crouching on the side.

Xiao was clutching the edge, breathing hard, "why did you push me in?"

"It was an accident, I swear!" She coughed up water.

The two struggled out from the pool and followed Lumine to class.

Now, no one knew what to think when the group turned up a minute late to class. Two of the three were sopping wet, the third, smirking.

The three took seats next to each other, as those were the only ones left. But the teacher soon sent Y/n and Xiao out and told them to, "clean themselves up."

Y/n walked down the hall to the girl's bathroom, and used the paper towel to unsuccessfully wipe chlorinated water from her blazer and skirt.

Once she arrived back at the classroom, it went by in a blur.

After school, Y/n walked home with Hu Tao and Ganyu, who looked like she was sleep-walking.

When they got to Y/n's place, Hu Tao waved her away, "I'll take Ganyu home. Make sure she's safe."

"Ah, thanks. And goodbye."

As Y/n wandered inside a sheet of paper fell from her bag.
The door closed.

Hu Tao plucked up the paper from the porch, "ah. Y/n's become quite the admirer..."
