Y/n clutched her fork in a death grip as she sat at the kitchen table.
She was still shook from the night before.
And... she was sure it was happening again- her parents weren't home and the neighbourhood was uncharacteristically quiet.
So she finished her meal and picked her phone up to call Hu Tao, asking whether she could go over.
... She said she was busy. The school was still closed for investigation.
The authorities said multiple different types of blood were found in the hall, suggesting a struggle or a full-out bloody murder.Y/n wondered who it belonged to.
That night... the one from yesterday, plagued her.
But, at least it was better, there were occasional footsteps and chatter coming from the direction of the street and nothing was bouncing off her windows.Outside, Kokomi ran into Xiao who was walking down the street.
She dived behind Y/n's neighbour's letterbox, but his keen eyes saw her- they narrowed into slits. He hissed, "what are you doing? Sneaking around at this hour!"
Kokomi pretended to not notice him but he turned up right in front of her face, "oh! Xiao'er!... I-it's none of your business!" She stuck her tongue out.
He glanced at the house, "I saw you earlier. What is the deal?"
Damn. Kokomi tried to think of an excuse but settled with the near truth, "I'm just checking on a friend."
He pursed his lips, unconvinced, "huh."
"Truly! I swear," she waved her hands in front of her face in surrender. She then hopped up to her feet so she was towering above him.
He looked up at her, his mouth in a tight frown. "Whose house is it then? Come on, it could truly be the home of one of your victims." He tapped his foot on the ground.
It seemed to Kokomi that he was purposely antagonising her to get a reaction.
"That's no language to use on me! I'm the student council vice-president, I want respect! Well... I want it." She frowned too, "what do you mean?"
"You have not heard about the blood samples?" He glanced back at the house.
"Of course! I was informed straight away! And since I am a trusted member of the student body, I know who the victims are. And, I also know none of them live here," she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Why were you waiting outside the house?"
"I told you! I'm just checking on her to make sure she's alright. That's what friends do!" Kokomi admitted to herself that the statement was embarrassing and undermining her relationship with Y/n.
Then, "go ring the doorbell or something. She'll knock your head off with that metal bat!""Pardon?... But aren't you her friend and is the one checking on her?" He sighed, "I guess I'll be on my way."
She grabbed his jacket and tugged him back, "wait!"
"I'll prove my innocence. Just go and ask.""That seems rather suspicious if you ask me."
Then he looked at her, "go and check.""She knows that I know where she lives! She'll think I'm stalking her!" Kokomi placed her hands on her chest, dramatically.
"You're the one standing outside her house at nine o'clock at night."
"Fine! Watch me."
