Y/n wandered up the many stairs to one of the higher floors of the hospital when she had free time on the weekend.
She was going to see Ganyu.

And when she got there, to the room Ganyu shared with some other girls- she opened the curtain that secluded her.
And yet, Ganyu was sleeping and a short boy sat by her bed.

"Oh, so you heard about Ganyu?"

"Yes- actually Zhongli told me not long after Hu Tao apparently found her in a dumpster." Xiao tilted his head, "I'm still wondering what she did for that to happen." He rested his chin on his palm.

Y/n considered telling him what Barbara had been assuming but mentally shook her head as it would make her sound suspicious. "I don't know?"

They watched the sweet blue-haired girl sleep soundly.

Xiao released an ungraceful snort, "honestly, she's been unconscious for over a week and still decides to sleep."

"Mmm... that week may have caught her up on the hours she needed," Y/n smiled at her friend's tranquil face as she slept.
"Actually I was hoping I could talk to her and catch some details," she admitted.

"I was too."

The beeping of monitors down the hall could be heard from the area Ganyu was in, and the room smelt like a mixture of anaesthetic and disinfectant. It was painfully stark white too, the walls, curtain and sheets on Ganyu's bed were all a pure shade of white, Y/n began to feel that everywhere was hard to look at. She blinked and focused on the flowers her friend had already received. They were pretty, they lit up the small quiet area in shades of bright colours.

"That... is a lot already, and she hasn't even been here too long."

"Zhongli and I brought her glaze lillies and some are from Hu Tao as well. The rest are a mystery... Ganyu is actually quite shy and doesn't put herself out there, I'm happy she received flowers from people."

Ganyu sighed softly in her sleep and Y/n looked at him, "how long have you been sitting here for?"

"A while... she's been sleeping the whole time, though. And you just arrived, yes?"

"Yeah. I just had some free time to visit."

He frowned, "I haven't spoken to you since Kokomi was at your house... but how are you doing with Barbara's death?"

"Eh- not well." She scratched the back of her neck, "it was a surprise actually, that somebody would target Barbara- of all people."

"She was getting suspicious, wasn't she? So they probably had to knock her down to dispose of all incriminating details."

"Oh. So you know about that too?"

"Hah... she went around telling our peers- well the ones she thought may be able to decipher the riddles and patterns."

"So... anyone could've killed her right? Because it wasn't limited to the first people she told- Albedo, Sucrose, Aether and me. Anyone in the school or community could have killed her."

"Correct. News of what she found spread like wildfire. We're all nosy," he shrugged.

Y/n laughed. "Yeah... I'm guilty of being nosy too."

She watched Ganyu sleep for a moment before the girl woke up.

"Oh, Ganyu! You're awake."

Ganyu looked around blearily and lifted her arm that was still attached to a drip up in a half-hearted wave, "hey Y/n."
She turned her head, "hi Xiao."

Y/n grinned, "you're awake!"

"Mmm... I hope nothing happened while I wasn't around..."

Xiao and Y/n glanced at each other and Y/n piped up, "oh... yeah? Jean's younger sister was killed."

Ganyu's smile faltered, "what?"

"But needless to say, everybody is incredibly happy that you survived!" Y/n tried to lighten the mood.

Ganyu was sullen, "Barbara Pegg? Why?"

"Eh- that, I'd rather not know."

Ganyu blinked and stared at the ceiling, then sat up, "well. Uh, thanks for visiting me... who found me?"

"Hu Tao found you in a bin," Xiao tilted his head, "why were you there of all places?"

"I don't know!"

The pair bickered and Y/n found it amusing.

Ganyu then laid back on the sheets again as Y/n waved goodbye and walked back home.
'What happened?'
