Special- Trick or Treat! (Halloween)

The street in late October became overrun with pumpkins. While, other streets did not- Y/n's neighbours placed a flaming carved-out pumpkin on their porch.
Hu Tao seemed crazy about the time too, she insisted that it was a 'great time to advertise!'
Y/n assumed that it was because people won't be offended and take it as a joke because ghosts and dead people seemed to be topic in late October.
Many others were wary, though, not sharing Hu Tao's enthusiasm.

So, Y/n and Hu Tao went out on Halloween wearing bedsheets over their heads and bodies and wandered around the more populated streets.
Children ran amok in costumes and parents were following them, looking just as joyful.

Hu Tao nudged Y/n, "do you think Ganyu's asleep?"

"No. Why?"

"I want to scare the life out of her!" She dashed away and Y/n followed her.

Hu Tao and Y/n ended up outside an average-sized, two storey house.

Y/n cocked her head, "I thought Ganyu was an orphan?"

"She's living with other sad orphans as well. Technically, they are allowed to live together, even if they are underage."

Hu Tao pulled some keys out of her pocket. Y/n grimaced, "you have keys to her house? Wouldn't her housemates get annoyed?"

"Nah, they both know me well. And probably are sleeping too."

The two girls went inside the house.
The inside was pretty bare. Not many belongings on the wooden shelves.
Simply, it didn't looked lived in- but... it was, according to Hu Tao.

Hu Tao led her down a dark hallway, to Ganyu's room- apparently, that's what Hu Tao thought.
Ganyu wasn't there. Wasn't sleeping or sitting wide awake at the small desk.

Y/n pursed her lips, and spun  around as she heard a creak from behind her.

To be truthful, Ganyu knew Hu Tao was going to show up with shenanigans. She didn't know the girl was being Y/n along.
So when Ganyu peeked out her window and saw two bedsheet ghosts wandering down the street, hand-in-hand.
She ran to Xiao's room and slammed the door open, demanding to get back at the mischievous brunette and Y/n. He reluctantly agreed.

And that creak was Ganyu misplacing her foot.
She jolted back and scampered down the hallway. She hid in the broom closet and listened as two female voices passed by her.
She grabbed one of the black trench coats in the closet, yanked it on and followed the girls.
The sleeves fell past her hands, and the gem dragged along the ground as she walked.
The windows in the house were open, it was chilly, but it was a cocoon of warmth in the coat.
She barely avoided tripping down the stairs.
She stumbled into the kitchen and pulled down the demon-face mask over her face. She sat on a chair in the pitch black.

Hu Tao and Y/n had their ghost costumes flipped around their shoulders so they could see better.
Hu Tao slumped down on one the stools in the kitchen.

Xiao stood leaning against the doorframe to the kitchen, partially amused.
He flicked the light on and took a better look when he heard a shriek.

Hu Tao screamed and fell backwards off of the seat, her legs getting tangled up in the white sheet costume. Y/n jumped with fright and crouched down, shielding her head.
They stared at the masked figure.

Ganyu -from behind her mask- grinned, "that was so worth it. Hah..." She shrugged, "of course, scaring the life out of you was his idea." She jabbed her thumb at the doorway, but the teal haired boy had already disappeared.

Y/n leaned closer, "you have an imaginary friend?"

"No!... Why are you here? Have you come to raid the fridge again, Hu Tao?" Ganyu placed her hands on her hips, the sleeves of the coat dangling.

"Is... that yours? That looks a bit oversized." Hu Tao tilted her head at Ganyu's coat.

She smiled and pushed the mask up off her face, "it's Zhongli's. I found it."
Then... "since you're here. Do you want some lollies? None of us have a very large sweet tooth. We bought them because people still come to our place even if it isn't decorated."

Hu Tao stuck her hand into her bowl Ganyu offered. She pulled some lollies out and used her bedsheet as a sack to carry them.

She waved her fist playfully at Ganyu, and said, "I'll get my revenge... one day!"

The two girls wanders out onto the street. They walked to a more crowded one.

"Look! It's Barbara!" Hu Tao was pointing at a blond girl dressed as an angel.

"Qiqi is such a cute witch!" Hu Tao continued to stare around.

"Hmmm... it's like you've never experienced Halloween before." Y/n glanced at Hu Tao before paying her attention back to the surroundings.

"Not with you," Hu Tao grinned and Y/n felt herself smile.

Hu Tao turned back to Y/n, "Happy Halloween."
