Kazuha grunted softly and rubbed the scar on his wrist. Why was it still so itchy and sore? He stretched out of the window to hang Beidou's too-suggestive underpants on the line.

The cat was curled up on the sofa fast asleep, its purrs floated around the otherwise-silent apartment. He gave it a gentle pat on the head as he walked away to his room. But was stopped short when his knuckles were swiped at by sharp claws. He rubbed that wound too and released a shaky breath.

He slumped at his desk and read over some of his old poems- he was quite proud of these as they were also hung up in the Literature classrooms at his school.

"Fly away little bird,
Spread your wings of shadowy stillness,
In all time, silence shatters your confidence,"

Though, that one- he was not so proud of... He wondered why everybody liked it so much. Beidou had read it and compared it to hers and said it was definitely better and felt kind of eerie... And that it related to her... That is why she enjoyed doing stuff while she was in the apartment, not just sitting at her desk or reading like Kazuha did.

Rain began to pour outside and he gave up on drying the clothing.
He came to new ideas and started to sketch up a new one... a draft for now.

Then his eyes drifted back to his old poem as he pondered the deaths... And, embarrassingly, Y/n.

An apprehension pinged in his head -not unlike one of those cartoon lightbulbs- and he snatched his poem from the desk.

Crap.

Jean drove wildly, she roared down the street in her little green car. Diluc's eyes were blown wide, however, as he was unluckily seated beside her in the passenger seat.

As he was thrown back again the headrest, "Jean." He spluttered, "why are you so anxious?"

Jean spoke loudly, spittle flew from her mouth as she wasn't properly pronouncing the words in her haste. "Didn't I tell you? Ugh. I am visiting Barbara."

Diluc attempted to quell his fearfully beating heart, "you can visit her any time... Why today of all days?" He glanced out the window at the pouring rain. "And today, of all days, you should be driving slower."

Jean narrowed her eyes. "Hardy-har. There is a detective at the morgue-"

Diluc abruptly cut her off, "Jean. There is no need for you to be looking into this too much... The cops will take care of it."

"It's my sister!" Tears spring to her eyes and she pulled the car over -thankfully- and press her forehead against the steering wheel. "How would you feel if someone you loved was killed so early and so cruelly... She might've even been alive when she-she..." She slammed her hand against the dashboard.

Diluc patted her hand. "My father was killed in battle. But all I know, is that he served justice- he is the pride of my whole family to this day... And, yes, I still miss him, but. I know that he was out there believing he was doing the right thing... Like, Barbara may be the reason a serial killer is arrested or dumped on death row." He paused, as the moment had gotten awkward. "Um. The days before she was killed, she was investigating... So she could protect you..."

"How is that supposed to make me feel better?!"

"It isn't. But you will gain peace of mind."
