After Aether almost kissed her, Y/n felt...put-out.

She found herself staring at her lunch, frowning as if it was the thing that went wrong- not her actions.
Hu Tao caught on almost instantly and laughed her head off.

They finished lunch and were walking to her next class, Hu Tao was still chuckling. "Aiya Y/n. You are so unfortunate."
Though... Hu Tao was happy Y/n didn't snog Aether.
She felt a sense of... protectiveness towards her h/c haired friend.

Then a cord snapped in her head. She placed a hand on Y/n's arm, halting her. "Y/n. That note-"

"Oh?" Y/n cocked her head.

Did Y/n love Aether? The words of 'My Love' at the signing at the end of the note were suspicious, Hu tao thought. There were few people who would dare to call Y/n My Love. Maybe Aether had something to do with it- as he was the first to make a move?  Or was it that idiot ginger... or even one of Y/n's close friends.
Hu Tao had to admit... Y/n had a large fan-following... is that what she should call it? It was infatuation, which Hu Tao had absolutely no problem with... after all, adoring somebody wasn't a crime.
Y/n was too trusting... Barbara was one of her close friends.. as well as Fischl and Bennett. Maybe somebody Hu Tao knew was killing them off? As, the note was signed with 'my love.'

Hu Tao shook her head, brown locks falling around her shoulders.
"Nothing..."

Y/n was sure she traumatised Xiao- I mean, who would want to see their friends kissing?

So when she saw him in her free time she ran up and swiftly apologised.

He just stood there and Y/n wondered whether he was understanding her.

"Xiao! Uh, about what you saw- I didn't kiss him." Y/n tried to paste a bright smiled onto her face.

"I was just mortified that you two would decide to... uh, meet in a public space, in full view." Xiao looked awkward.

"So, it doesn't bother you."

"Not so much as bother as depress." He rubbed his temple.

Y/n waited for him to continue but he didn't, and just stared at her in this blank way, his brow slightly furrowed.

Y/n tilted her head and released a light laugh, "so. I guess it"s cleared up now?"

He nodded and glanced away. "Yes... See you later."

She watched him leave and grinned, happy that it was clear she didn't plan on making out with Aether in the school library.
She mentally pumped her fist, another success.

The next period, Y/n had to cook that recipe with Childe- her chosen partner for now.
She had to admit, he was an excellent cook... very refined and skilled.
Whereas, Y/h almost chopped her finger off because she wasn't focusing.

The pair finished and grinned proudly.
The dish looked delicious.

And even though Childe didn't normally initiate physical contact between them, he lifted a hand for a high-five.
She accepted it and their hands hitting one another made a loud slapping noise.

"Way to go, Y/n! You are so modest about being a bad cook and look what we've made!"

She huffed, "says the guy who did all the work."

He smiled, yet it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Happy to serve."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/n walked home by herself.
She tugged her thin school blazer around her to create a barrier to the gushing wind which was slowly beginning to pick up.
Even though the wind was swirling around, she felt perfectly fine- it wasn't in her ears the whole time she walked home.
She arrived home and opened the door, prepared to shout 'I'm home!' To her parents, knowing it annoyed them slightly...
But it seemed they were working late again.
She closed the door behind her and rushed up the stairs to do her homework.
Y/n flicked on her desk lamp and read through her history pages.
A thump... or was it a knock?
Well, somebody was knocking on her door.
Y/n felt unease drift over her again, she winced and searched around the hallway cupboard for her father's bat... which was suddenly getting more use.
Creeping down the stairs, wooden bat in hand, Y/n looked like the protagonist in a horror movie.
The doorbell rang and she crept faster, the stairs softly creaking from years of use before her family moved in.
Silence descended.
So Y/n inched the door open and saw a envelop on the porch, a slightly wet-looking envelope.
She wrinkled her nose, had it been sitting in a muddy puddle?
Crouching down to inspect it, Y/n safely assumed there was nothing wrong-looking about the envelope.
She opened it.
There was a letter and a small brown fabric bag inside.
She read the letter first.
Dear Y/n.
I don't know when this happened, it's a unendingly wonderful feeling.
Beautiful you are, yet modest.
You may have not come to terms with what I am saying... as I am not often around you
Loving you is easy... yet falling out of it is difficult.
You're like a flower...
A flower which blossoms under a certain gaze
I'll be yours.
Y/n felt blood rush to her cheeks- not severely, but in a gentle way.
It was surreal, somebody other than the murderer and Aether loved... her.
She grinned and look her in the bag, 'why would they give me something?'
As soon as she opened it, a metallic smell wafted from inside.
'Wait- what?'
Suddenly not wanting to put her hand inside, she dumped the contents onto her porch.
A thin silver bracelet. The prongs curled together and one dangling charm created a beautiful picture.
Y/n couldn't believe her eyes as she took in the image of the trinket.
A silver bracelet soaked in blood.
