Ganyu had finally been transported from the hospital back home with Zhongli and Xiao.

She spent hours on end sleeping, as she had not much other to do, so she laid on the bed snuggled under blankets.
She scrolled through her phone for any news and found nothing, she sighed and dropped it onto the bedside table.
And... she didn't have a choice other than doing not much because her left arm was trapped in a cast and sling, and aches shivered in her joints when she moved around- the doctors said both of those injuries would heal up in good time.

Then, at about three-thirty a h/c haired girl turned up at the doorway.

Y/n stood on the steps and rung the doorbell.
The door was quickly thrown open and it slammed into the wall.

"Oh, hey? Is Ganyu home?"

Xiao's jaw ticked, "of course she would be home. She's...ha- choo!" He retrieved a tissue from his jacket pocket and covered the bottom half of his face.

"Are you unwell too?"

He blinked, "Zhongli keeps saying something about Ganyu contracting a cold from the hospital and passing it to me- but she sure seems dandy."
He shoved both hands back in his pockets, "do you want to come in?"

Y/n stepped inside and Xiao closed the door behind her, he ran up the stairs to inform Ganyu about Y/n's arrival.

There was a pot of tea on the kitchen counter- still hot, which Y/n knew from the steam.
It was a small house, yet it was quaint.
And Y/n still did not know what those papers all over the floor were.

And there came Ganyu, in all her dishevelled glory- she trudged down the stairs, her gloomy looks suddenly becoming on of joy.

Xiao noticed Y/n looking, "they're work forms I think. Hu Tao likes to supply Zhongli with information on every funeral and body." He sniffled and coughed into his elbow then walked off.
"You two can become acquainted again."

"Y/n!" Ganyu sprung forward after reaching the bottom of the stairs, but sadly couldn't offer a hug. So Y/n did and the two girl melted into the embrace.
"It's so nice to see you, especially since I was released from the hospital!"

"Yes. I heard." Y/n smiled and curled her arms tighter around her friend.

Xiao came back into the room wearing a face mask. "Her immune system is still whack, don't contaminate her too much."

"Oh my god! You guys need to stop treating me like a patient!" Ganyu looked exasperated.

Xiao rolled his eyes and lifted the teapot from the table, "do you want any tea?"

"Yes, thanks."

Ganyu sat on a chair across from Y/n as they clutched teacups.

Ganyu smiled slyly, "has anything interesting happened lately?"

Y/n frowned in concentration, "I don't think so? Just the usual."
Then a thought occurred to her as she turned to Xiao, "are you on a team yet?"

"What team?"

"For the sporting festival thing. Three is way too little."

He snorted, "I was just going to pull a sickie and pass on it."

"Ah. Hu Tao was planning on doing that too, but she was forced because she skips most years apparently."
She widened her eyes into what she hoped looked like a pleading expression, "come on! You can be with Aether, Lumine and me!"

Y/n couldn't see his mouth, but she knew he was frowning at her words.

Ganyu laughed, "at least I get special treatment and can spectate this year!"

Y/n rose an eyebrow, "what's so bad about it?"

"Eh- well, only the really athletic students get to show off and their teams also do well. The rest of us just embarrass ourselves."
Ganyu shrugged, "but it can't be helped."
"You know-" In fact Ganyu had just been about to explain one of her past experiences when the door opened and Zhongli stepped inside.

"Oh, hello Y/n."

Y/n turned around on her chair, "did you just come from the funeral parlour?"

He nodded, "we do not have much work to complete, so everyone was sent home."

Then Ganyu piped up, "we were just talking about the sports festival and how painful it will be!" She giggled.
"Y/n needs more people to be in Lumine's team, otherwise they'll all be split up and dumped with literal strangers."

"Sure." Zhongli shrugged, "I'll join you."

Ganyu snickered, "well. He has to- he has to do it to make himself look good. The student council members choose to participate."

"Aren't you on the council too?"

"Uh, yeah! I just don't hold any pride in it- I spend the few hours in the office organising the principal's paperwork."

"Okay. I'll be on your team too, Y/n." Xiao's voice was muffled from behind the medical mask.

"Oh, why the sudden change of heart?"

He turned away, but Y/n could still catch the tips of his ears reddening.

Zhongli tapped his lip with a distant look in his eyes- which Y/n later finds out that's how he likes to recall thoughts.
"I have a friend who may like to join you too."

Xiao's eyes widened slightly, "not him."

Ganyu giggled, "yup. Venti's a menace- even worse than Hu Tao."

Y/n smiled, "ah. I know him, he's nice."

"Nice. Nice? He peeves me off so much!" Xiao shook his head.

Ganyu sighed, "now you know how he and Hu Tao are friends."

Y/n sipped the now-cold tea, "sounds fun. Thanks for doing this."

Zhongli grinned, "that is fine. I was going to participate anyway."

"Ack- ah..." Xiao sneezed softly -to his displeasure- inside his mask. His brow furrowed as he wandered away yet again.

"Well," Ganyu said. "I'll see you there and cheer you on, Y/n."
