After the long train ride the man spent- mostly standing up- the poor guy had to stumble to the police department in the busiest part of the city.
He arrived at the door and was greeted by a dapper-looking young woman and the floating child he had spoken to on the phone.

Paimon stuck out her hand, "as you know, Dainsleif- my name is Paimon, and this is Detective Bantan Sango."

He took her tiny fist in his and they shook. "It's a pleasure to meet you- both of you." He shook Sango's hand too.

Bantan Sango narrowed her eyes, "you look a lot younger than what Paimon told me."

He felt sweat prickling his temple- luckily, he had prepared for this. "I'm certainly qualified. I assume you just thought 'qualified' meant I was of age?"

"Correct... How old are you?"

He hesitated... Maybe he would age himself up a few years... Yes, twenty seemed a good age... "I am twenty years old."
He smiled inwardly, this seemed a good lie.

The dark haired woman's eyes practically bugged from her head. "Twenty? AND already qualified for a prime role in a school? You must be some genius!"

He chuckled awkwardly. "If you say so." Shrugging his shoulders.

Sango grinned, her guard down, "why don't you come inside. I have to remind you of a few things before entering the school."

He nodded, solemn.

The trio stepped into the detective agency.

Sango plopped behind her desk into a soft leather chair. "Please take a chair."

The blonde man and the presumed child sat in less comfortable wooden chairs... Luckily there were small pillows on the seat of the not-so-crafty chair.

Sango plucked out a logbook. "This," she started, waving it around, "this is a logbook... Please note anything of importance in this and report back to Ryuuji or myself... or any of my subordinates weekly. This may provide clues into solving these mysterious cases."

Dainsleif nodded.

Sango reached into her desk and lugged out a two-inch thick file. "These are the profiles of each student, except this isn't a school-regulated one, this one has information on everything... Their backgrounds, family, criminal records, test scores... The usual... AND it has notable words from their interviews! AND!" She took a gasp of breath. "These are their addresses, phone numbers... Addresses of parents, emails, phone numbers... AND-"

Paimon stopped her, "please stop emphasising, it's not that cool."

Sango frowned, but continued. "There are classified police department documents here... As well as medical reports. So... Have fun reading the through this!" She chuckled darkly.

Dainsleif admitted he wasn't looking forwards to it- but, he had already agreed to go undercover as a principal... So, he better get a wriggle on. "Is that all?"

Sango sucked in breaths- the talking exhausted her air supply. "Oh... NO! Wait, there's more!"

Paimon rolled her eyes and pulled a packet of chips from her flouncy shirt. She crunched on them obnoxiously.

Sango and Dainsleif stared in utter disbelief.

Sango gasped, "Paimon, please do not make a mess! It will only cause trouble for us detectives... And our cleaner." Then she composed herself.

"Dain... Is it alright if I call you Dain? Your name's a bit funny so-"

"It's fine." He wanted this experience to be over.

Sango grinned... Dainsleif studied her face... Did she admire him?

"So! Uh... Here's your gun. It's appointed by the authorities. I assume you already have a license?"

"Correct. But, I don't need your gun. I have my own pistol."

Sango shoved the handgun back inside her messy desk.

"Now. Here is a list of important numbers- including mine." She grinned dopily. "This is the chief of police's." She pointed to the one at the bottom of the list, "only call his in case of emergency OR you find the perpetrator and need backup."

"I won't need backup, I'm a trained professional."

Sango rose an eyebrow, "I thought you had a teaching degree?"

"That too."

Paimon interrupted them -still munching on chips- "what if he abuses his role as an educator."

Sango rolled her eyes, "it will be fine. He's qualified." She patted Dainsleif on the hand.

Sango created a pile of the goods she was giving Dainsleif.
"Now," she began, "is the cool stuff."

She passed Dainsleif a portable armoury that he could strap onto his belt. It contained a taser, truth serum, a handgun... He wondered why there was a lethal-looking knife in there... And, there was a lock-picking kit. Truly, things the detectives would use regularly.
Also, some unidentifiable objects... He decided not to ask Sango, as he was getting hungrier and hungrier and could just ask her later.
His stomach growled as Paimon chomped down on another chip.

"May I?" Dainsleif reached out and took one with Paimon's reluctant permission.
For the first time, he was actually contented eating a chip.

Sango then procured a walkie-talkie and an earpiece. He truly felt at home now... Like a spy.

"Use these to communicate." Sango handed all the items to him in a bright pink tote bag.

He cringed, not wanting his pride to be swathed wandering around with that monstrosity.

Then, Sango took out a recorder. "Time for your interview!"

He groaned internally.

The next half hour was a flurry of talking.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He completed the interview and went to lunch... Finally.
The only thing he wasn't fully content with was that Sango and Paimon were with him.
He means, having a twenty-something year old woman cling to your arm when you haven't even turned twenty yet... Well, that felt a bit strange.
Paimon yabbered on. And to shut her up, he treated both of them to a meal in a local cafe.
They were served by a short pastel-blue haired girl and a boy (also short) with a mix of black and teal strands that made up his hair. The pair were silent.
After being served, as he ate, he felt the boy's stare burning into his back.
Strangers also glanced at them. He grimaced, not wanting to draw attention to himself. Why was everyone staring at him?
Sango noticed it too, so she nodded subtly and they exited the cafe after finishing their meal.
Once outside, passerby were staring at them- him.
Dainsleif sighed and pressed a hand to his head, I must really look weird, right now.
If this day wasn't already strange, his future experiences in this area would be even stranger.
