Chapter 78: Alone

Y/N BLACK-

I had to find him.

I had to stop him.

I ran out into the rain and into the Forrest, the water pouring so hard it was suffocating.

Then I saw him in the distance about to apparate away.

"TOM!" I screamed and he turned to face me. "Please."

He stopped and I ran up to him trying to pull him close but he stopped me.

"You promised! You promised that no matter what happened, you would never leave me!" I cried out in front of him.

He choked back tears of his own avoiding looking me in the eyes.

"I also promised to protect you. And right now I can only keep one promise by breaking the other. I'm sorry darling. But I won't let you get hurt again because of me."

He tried to take a step back, but I reached out and grabbed his arm, "please Tom! Please you don't have to go-"

He ripped his arm from my grip. "Yes I do! Don't you understand!! I can't let him use me against you!! You were captured and tortured to save me!! I can't let that happen again. I won't let it. Your father was right, you are safer as far away from me as possible."

The tears running down our cheeks dense with tension and pain were visible despite the downpour.

"My father thought I was safer with you!"

He stopped at this. Looking at me through shocked eyes.

"The bracelets were his idea. He told me to give it to one of you. That only you two could truly save me."

"I'm sorry." He said stepping towards me. "But if I know where you are then he'll know." He took the bracelet off and placed it around my wrist above my matching one.

"Tom," it came out more as a whimper.

"You don't know what it feels like to fall in love with you. You don't know what it's like when you can't go back. Cause I only lose my mind when I don't have you! And how can I win when I'm always bound to lose!"

"You don't know what it feels like to lose you-" I tried.

"I tried to hold on tight to make you mine, but I lost each time! But I think it's time to let you go, to let your heart find a home.... I need to let you go."

"You are my home Tom,"

"I can't be. Not anymore. Not if I'm going to keep you safe." He took a step back. "I love you y/n black."

I reached out to grab him again but in the blink of an eye he was gone.

Gone.

It felt like the world was collapsing around me.

A moment of shock and denial passed and my knees hit the ground. My screams echoed off the broken branches of the Forrest. The ground shook beneath me as I clutched at the grass for stability.

You never truly realize how much you need someone till they are gone.

And I needed him as much as I needed oxygen in my lungs.

Please.

I would give anything to see him appear behind the trees.

To fight with me.

To fight for me.

To have him here with me.

I could deny how much I loved him from the second i laid eyes on him as much as I wanted, but there was no denying the empty feeling flooding my veins now that he was gone.
