The road stretches out before them like a never ending murky river, snaking here and there among the shadows of the night. The Impala's headlights bouncing off of the inky trees surrounding them, as they make their way back to the bunker. Between the exhaustion of the case and the motion of the car, Mae soon nods off in the backseat.

Sam goes to ask Mae a question but stops mid sentence, seeing that she is out like a light. He takes this opportunity to talk to Dean about what to do next but they aren't seeing eye to eye on the topic.

"I shouldn't be there for it."

Sighing, Dean glances back at her and smiles to himself. "I can't wait to get home, I'm so tired."

"Me too. I think we're all pretty exhausted."

"I can't wait to eat a giant bacon cheeseburger and sleep for like two days."

"Stop changing the subject, I think it should come from you." Sam persists.

Dean shakes his head. "But..."

"No, you need to do this, she's here because of you."

His face sags in resignation. "Alright, alright."

Running a hand over his face, Dean stares out into the darkness in front of him, trying to focus on the road. He fidgets in the driver's seat while a heat climbs up the back of his neck, and he starts to drum his fingers on the steering wheel, a feeling of unease setting in. Adjusting his rearview mirror, so he can see her, he sighs. I know he's right about this, I just wish I didn't have to do it alone. I wonder what she'll say?

They pull into the garage and Mae's eyes go wide. "Whoa! Look at all these cars!"

"Yeah, the Men of Letters left a lot of things behind." Sam says.

"Why am I just seeing this for the first time?"

"Other stuff going on, I guess."

"I need a tour of this place some time!"

Dean smiles at her. "Of course."

The three of them get all of their things from the trunk and access the bunker through the garage entrance. Mae is so busy asking questions about the many different vehicles, that when she turns around after putting down her stuff, she is shocked to find that Sam is no longer there.

"Where'd Sam go?"

Dean scratches the back of his head, as he looks over his shoulder. "Guess he went straight to his room."

"Ok." She starts to get a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach.

"Well, I wanted to talk to you..." He trails off when he realizes that she is staring transfixed at the floor.

"Sam and I..."

"Usually hunt alone." She finishes.

Dean's brow creases in confusion. "Yeah, usually..."

"And I messed everything up and put you in danger and..."

This time Dean cuts her off. "And you also took down a shifter and a demon almost all single handedly."

She finally looks up at him. "But the shifter took you and the demon tried to suffocate both you and Sam. All because of me, I'd understand if you guys don't want me around."

"Everything worked out, especially because you were there." He takes her hand. "We'd like you to hunt with us."

"What?" She stares at him in complete shock.

"You can pick out a room and we'll clean it up, so you don't have to go back and forth." She stands frozen for a few moments.

"So, what do you think?" He asks, when she doesn't respond.

Still not moving or answering, Dean takes her cheek in his hand and moves his head so he can gaze directly into her eyes. "Mae?"

"Ummm..." She gapes at him.

"Are you ok?"

"I, uh, I'm just really taken aback." She finally manages to sputter out.

"You kicked some major ass on this hunt, why wouldn't we want you to hunt with us?"

"But..."

"So, what did she say?" Sam asks, poking his head around the corner of the main room.

"Nothing yet, but I did just ask her." Dean replies.

Recovering a bit from the shock, she smiles. "I'd love to hunt with you guys again."

"That's great!" Sam says, coming over and hugging her.

Dean beams at her, secretly doing a happy dance in his head. "Yeah, let's go pick out your room."

"Umm, about that, I can't live here."

"What? Why not?" Dean's face falls.
"I have to stay off the grid and this is too well known."

"It's a hidden bunker, that is heavily warded." Dean retorts.

"I have to agree with Dean, you would be well protected here."

"You guys don't understand, way too many people know where this bunker is and I can't take that risk."

Holding his hands up in defeat, Dean nods his head. "Ok, ok, no room then."

"It doesn't mean no room, I just can't live here. Perhaps the occasional overnight stay."

"That sounds reasonable." Sam says. "Plus you will still be working cases and hunting with us."

"Yes, I will."

Dean slings his arm over Mae's shoulders and starts walking towards the hallways. "Awesome, I know of a few great rooms that are close to mine."

Mae looks over her shoulder to Sam and just shrugs and smiles, while she allows Dean to escort her through the archway. Sam shakes his head and smirks to himself. Dean's got it pretty bad. He must like her a lot to try and get her to move in.
