Walking around the cemetery once again, it almost feels like deja vu because they are having a hard time finding the right vault. After about ten minutes Sam finally locates it.
"Are you sure this is the right one?" Dean wonders.
"Yeah, it matches the map."
"That thing is ancient, can you even read it?"
Sam roughly pushes the paper with the crude, dated map into Dean's chest. "Here, look for yourself."
"Damn right I will, I don't want to have to search all these funny little stone houses."
"They are mausoleums, Dean." Sam rolls his eyes, as Dean just waves him off.
Double checking that they have the right crypt, Dean opens the creaking door and the trio step in, letting their eyes adjust to the dim light. They spread out searching for Ava's name anywhere on the stones. Dean calls out when he finds a glass case by an older stone with the name they are looking for and the other two rush to join him.
"Should we just torch it all?" Mae asks.
Dean shrugs. "I guess."
"It could be the little stuffed animal there." Sam points out but Dean had already shattered the glass with his elbow.
Dean begins dowsing the items with lighter fluid. "I'd rather not come back because we weren't thorough."
Reaching into his pocket for his lighter, Dean is about to flick it open when he is thrown backwards into a wall. His head hits with a loud crack and he falls to the floor like a ragdoll, while an ear piercing screech fills the air.
"Dean!" They both shout in dismay.
"You are desecrating my resting place!" She shrieks. "I will not allow this."
Looking first at Dean and then at the ghost that appeared in the corner and back again, Sam and Mae are torn between checking on Dean and lighting the case on fire. Catching her eye Sam glances down at the lighter and points to himself, and nods his head towards Dean for her.
Suddenly Ava pops up right in front of Sam and reaches her hand into his chest, squeezing his heart causing him to freeze, as gurgles of pain escape his lips. Mae quickly grabs one of the salt canisters from the bag and throws a heaping fistful at the ghost, making it disappear instantaneously. This gives Sam enough time to recover, he snags his brother's lighter from where it fell on the floor.
He fumbles a bit getting it to light and Ava reappears to his right ready to attack again. Mae starts pouring more salt in her hand when a blast from behind startles her, she looks back to see Dean sitting up with his shotgun smoking in his hand. The salt round hits its target and the ghost dissipates once more.
Mae makes a hasty salt circle around Sam, then rushes over to Dean's side, checking the lump that is forming on the back of his head. Sam finally ignites the lighter and sends it flying into the case with the ghost's possessions.
Returning she hovers over Mae and Dean, reaching out to grab them, they are at the ready but the ghost bursts into flames screaming instead, as the case's contents are completely engulfed in fire. Her blazing departure reflects in their eyes, as they watch her spectral form vanish for good this time.

Walking back to the Impala, with Sam on one side and Mae on the other, Dean feels a little pain radiating from the bump on his head but still grumbles about them helping him walk. Sam peers over his brother's back and gives Mae a look that says 'Sorry about this, he does it all the time.'
"You know, you hit your head pretty hard in there, I'm surprised I didn't have to haul your unconscious ass to the car."
"Shut up Sammy, you're making my headache worse."
"I just hope you don't need to go to a hospital." Mae frets.
Looking into her worried face, he puts on his best smirk. "Don't worry, I've had worse, plus if it gets too bad I'll ask Cas to heal me."
All she can do is nod, as she watches Sam singlehandedly open the trunk and sit his brother down on the edge. Seeing the pain written all over Dean's face is almost too much for her but Sam handing her the first aid box pulls her attention to him.
"I'm going to get the gear from the crypt, you see if he needs more than some headache medicine."
Resolve setting in, she takes a deep breath and focuses on the task at hand. "Ok Winchester, let's have a look at this head of yours."
"Many have tried Darling, but it's no use, not even professionals can figure out this cracked nut."
"At least it hasn't affected your sense of humor." Checking out the back of his head she sighs. "And thankfully your 'cracked nut' isn't broken, no stitches needed."
"I will take some of those pills though and whiskey if we have any in the car."
Coming around to sit in front of him, on the edge of the trunk, she frowns at him. "Here hold these." She says, handing him a packet of medicine from the kit and rifles around in the trunk a bit pulling out a bottle. "But I do believe water would be best for this situation, you shouldn't mix alcohol with meds."
He chuckles at her but accepts the water anyhow. "Wouldn't be the first time or the last." He winks at her, when she gives him a dirty look.
"I still need to make sure you don't have a concussion. Keep your head still and follow my finger." She commands, as she takes the side of his face in her one hand and uses the other to have him track it.
After she finishes, she cups the other side of his face and sighs staring into his eyes. "How does it look, doc?"
"Good, no concussion, but we should keep an eye..." She trails off, as she realizes how she's holding him and how close he is. Blushing, she looks off to the side and begins to remove her hands. "Oh, I'm sorry."
He quickly covers her hands with his, stopping them from leaving his face, he closes his eyes and smiles, before looking directly into her blue green eyes. "Never apologize for touching me, Sweetheart."
"Ok." She says, smiling sweetly at him.
He takes her hands and kisses each on the knuckles before bringing them down to rest between their legs. Sam returns to find them staring at each other once again and smiles while rolling his eyes.
"What's the prognosis?" Sam asks, making Mae jump a little.
She tries to move her hands but Dean holds tight and smirks at her while rubbing circles on the backs of her hands. "Looks to be just a nasty bump but we should keep an eye on it."
"Aww, I was hoping you'd say he needed a brain transplant, so I could start fresh with him, you know, maybe even get to drive the Impala."
She chuckles at the joke but Dean purses his lips. "You know you love me, just as I am, you gassy giant. But at least right now you get to have your wish."
"What's that?" Sam quirks his eyebrow.
"You're driving, I'm gonna lay down in the backseat."
Staring at his brother in shock, Sam almost misses the keys when Dean throws them his way but he catches them and makes his way to the driver's side with a smile on his face. Dean walks over to the rear passenger door with Mae's help, while muttering about not seeing any scratches on his baby.
Mae begins to go to the front but Dean pulls her into his side. "Where're you going? You're my pillow."
She only laughs and blushes in response, as she slides into the backseat with Dean. He lays down and makes himself comfortable, putting his head in her lap. Looking up at her he has a cocky grin on his face. At first she glances around, almost as if to make sure this is real, then stares down at him lovingly. She raises her hand absentmindedly and begins to comb her fingers through his hair. At her touch his eyes close and he sighs contentedly.
The ride back to the motel is rather quiet but a comfortable one. They quickly pack up and make their way back to the bunker and of course Dean insists on the same seating plan; he gets no resistance.
