Sitting at her kitchen table eating some lunch, Mae gets a call from Dean. I love how much he calls me! Putting down her sandwich, she swipes accept on her phone.

"Hi Dean!"

"Hey, Sweetheart, how are you?"

"Good, just having lunch."

"Oooh, what are you eating?"

"Just a BLT, nothing too special."
"I bet it's amazing."

"It is pretty good. But I hope you didn't just call to talk about my lunch."

"Umm, no, actually we have a case and I was hoping you could come and help."

"What's the case?"
"It seems to be a werewolf."
"Wow, the legendary Winchesters need help with one werewolf."

He chuckles. "It's not that we need the help, I mainly just wanted to see you."

"Aww Dean, of course I'll come and take on a werewolf with you, because I want to see you, too!"

"Great, I wasn't sure how long you needed to stay away and hidden."
"Actually, your timing is perfect. Not only has it been long enough to help me stay off the monster radar but it's been far too long since our date."
"Yes, yes it has."

"When are you guys leaving?"

"We'd like to get going early in the morning tomorrow, like seven."

"Ok, I'll pack my stuff and be there before then."

The two stay on the phone and chat about much of nothing for the next half an hour. She nibbles here and there on her mostly forgotten sandwich, during the phone conversation. After she's off the phone, she cleans up from lunch and begins pulling out other ingredients.

The next day, Mae knocks on the door of the bunker, while holding a few special things. To her surprise Sam opens the door, instead of Dean, and she quirks her head to the side with a confused smile.

"Uh, hey Mae, it's great to see you."
"Hey Sam, how are you?"

"Good but umm, well..." He gets distracted by what she's holding. "What are those?"

"I made some pies for you both."
"Oooh man, Dean is going to be so happy."

"Speaking of, where is he?"
"Oh right, about that, umm, our mom is here."

"Really? Do I get to meet her?"

"Yes but..."

"Spit it out Sam."

"She's kinda in mama bear mode right now."

"Why? What happened? Is he hurt?" Panic overtakes her.

"No, it's because of you."
"Me?"

Ushering her in, he tries to explain. "You are dating her son, well kinda, one date but still."

"Ahh, gotcha."

Making their way down the stairs an argument can be heard, at the bottom they look over at Dean and Mary who stop mid conversation. "Hey there, Sweetheart!"

Dean quickly walks over to her and pulls her in for a tight hug. "Hi Dean."

"What do we have here?" He asks, looking at the box in her hand.

"Pies."

Dean's eyes light up like it's Christmas. "Really?"

"I made them yesterday after you called."

"You made them pies?" Mary pipes up with a suspicious look on her face.

"Yes, and I would have made more if I had known you were going to be here." Mae replies, smiling brightly at Mary.

"Mmm hmm." She stares Mae down. "And who exactly are you?"

"I'm Mae, I've been helping out on some cases."

"Not what I meant." Mary snips.

Dean puts his hands up. "Woah, Mom, we talked about this."

"Yeah and you told me that she is half human and half something else, which I'd like to know what that is."

"I can't do that, I'd be putting you all in too much danger."

"Exactly!" Mary exclaims. "If it's too dangerous to know about what you are, then how is it not dangerous to be around you?"

"Hey, I've brought that up to them before." Mae steps forward. "But they said they are used to it and always in danger no matter what."

"I mean we are Winchesters." Sam says, trying to ease the situation.

Mary throws her hands up in frustration. "That's even more reason. Why bring more trouble on yourself?"

"I tried to stay away..." Mae starts.

"But I'm glad she didn't." Dean pulls her to his side and gives his mom a look of finality.

"I understand you think she makes you happy but what if she has you under some spell or something?" Mary postulates.

"We have thought of that too but haven't found anything." Sam replies. "Let's put a pin in this and get to our case."

"Ok, I'll drop it, for now." Mary says, pointedly. "But we will revisit this, boys."

"Yep, so pie." Dean reminds everyone.

Mary shakes her head. "I actually can't. I have to get going."
"You aren't coming on the hunt with us?" Mae asks, seemingly disappointed.

"No, I already promised an old hunting buddy of mine that I'd help out on his case."

"Oh, well maybe the next one." Mae offers.

"Yeah." Mary brusquely replies, as she grabs her duffle.

"Want some pie for the road?" Dean asks.

"I think I'll pass." Starting for the stairs, Mary turns around. "Mae, is it? Can I have a quick word with you in private?"

Nodding Mae extracts herself from Dean's grip, hands him the pies, and walks over. "What can I do for you?"

"A lot of things, like staying away from my sons, but I assume from the track record so far, that won't be happening. So I'll tell you this, if you hurt my son in any way, shape, or form, I will hunt you down and kill you myself."

"I would never hurt him or Sam. And as for being hunted, you'll have to get in line."
"What do you mean?" She asks, with a confused look on her face.

"Oh, I thought Dean might have told you. That's the reason it's dangerous to be around me, I've got monsters tracking me."

"Yeah, well, I'm what the monsters fear."

Mary hustles up the stairs and out the door leaving behind a slightly stunned Mae. That could have gone better. She spins around to face the eagerly awaiting boys.

She takes a deep breath and smiles. "So, that's Mary Winchester."
"Yeah." Both Sam and Dean mutter.

"A little different than I imagined."
Dean rubs the back of his neck and looks away. "Tell me about it."

"She's just having a tough time adjusting." Sam explains.

"Yeah, Dean said as much, it must be absolutely mind boggling. You're alive in one decade with a husband and two little boys and when you wake up from being in heaven everything is different. But I wasn't expecting her to be so..." She pauses to think for a moment. "Harsh, I guess is the word."

"Yeah." Dean shuffles a little. "Let's eat some of this pie and get going. We have a werewolf to take care of."

Both Sam and Mae stare at Dean, then nod in agreement. "Yeah."
