Andy's POV
I walked into the beanery to meet Maya, Miller, Warren, Travis and Emmet there.
"Morning guys."
"Morning Herr- Sullivan Herrera...." Travis said stuttering
"What do we call you? Herrera? Sullivan? Herrera-Sullivan?" Travis asked
"Legally I am Herrera-Sullivan but to avoid confusion with my husb- with captain I will stay Herrera at work."
"Okay Herrera." Travis said while continuing to make his coffee
"How's James?" Maya asked sitting next to me
"He's good, he's with my dad. Hopefully that goes well."
"Wasn't he going day care?" Ben questioned
"Yeah but this morning I asked my dad to pick him up so I told him if he wants to keep him until later it will be okay."
"Morning guys." Vic said walking through the door
"Morning"
Jack then walked in saying "Morning everyone."
"Morning Gibson."
"LINE UP IN 5 MINUTES!" yelled my husband through the door not entering
"You would think after revealing he's married and that he has a baby that he would be a lot happier." Jack said rolling his eyes.
Everyone then shot their eyes to me
"What is that supposed to mean Jack?"
"Nothing Herrera." He said rolling his eyes
I decided to drop it, I washed my mug and started heading down to the barn. Everyone did the same.
We lined up; Maya, Myself, Vic, Travis, Warren, Dixon, Jack and Miller. Robert walked in with his hands on his hips looking sexy as usual.
"Good morning 19. Your assignments are as follows; Dixon, Montgomery, Aid Car, Warren, PRT, Bishop, Herrera, Engine, Miller, Hughes Ladder. Herrera restock the aid car, Warren and Dixon restock the Engine. Bishop and Hughes head to the store to restock the beanery please. Everyone else clean. Dismissed."
He dropped his hands into his pocket, spread his eyes across everyone before turning and leaving to his office. Everyone went and did as they were told.
30 mins later
"ENGINE 19, LADDER 19, AID CAR 19, PRT REQUESTED AT 550 GOLDEN AVENUE."
"Come on lets go people! Move it, move it!" Robert shouted running into the barn.
At the scene
"Woah..." is all I managed to say taking in the sight before me. An 8 floor apartment complex with the 8th level on fire. There was total chaos. People running in and out of the building trying to either save themselves or others.
"Okay people! Jack, Bishop evac on the first and second floor, Miller, Hughes third and fourth floor, Travis, Dixon fifth and sixth floor, Herrera and I will do seventh and eighth floor. Let's get to it people! Move! Move! Move!"
Robert's POV
Evaluating this fire, I knew I couldn't trust anyone with my wife. I had to be with her. If we die, we die together.
"Captain you ready?" She asked touching my elbow gently
"Yeah let's go."
We made our way up to the seventh floor, knocking and shouting at each door and waiting a few seconds to see if we hear anything. We cleared out a family of four, a elderly person and her son and a couple. We then made our way up to the eighth floor. The level I was dreading the most. I started thinking... was I selfish to put my wife and the mother of my child in this position?! I could get her killed!
Half way up the stair case I stopped and turned around and said
"Andy baby, you need to go."
