Another two weeks later
Robert's POV
"Babe, time to get up." I said kissing her on her cheek while J crawled on her shoulder. She turned over smiling
"Good morning boys." She said with the most beautiful voice.
"Mum mum." J mumbled looking at her. A big smile spread across her face and I myself couldn't help but smile. James is now 10 months and started saying "dada" a few days ago. Andy became so sour when he said it but in a good way.
"Hi baby." She replied pulling him to her and kissing his cheek.
"I would love some of the action." I grinned before pulling my family closer to me and hugging them tightly.
In the car park
Andy's POV
"Robert I know you're upset, I am upset too but we need to deal with this in a professional manner okay..." I said stroking his cheek
"Okay love. I'll try my best..."
"That's all I ask." I smiled before kissing him softly but deeply.
We headed into the station hand in hand before we separated, he went into his office and I went to the beanery
"Good morning guys..." I said walking in. Everyone spun around to the sound of my voice and looked at me shocked
"My name is Andrea Herrera... I used to work here... I'm married to your battalion chief..." I said jokingly
"Right right I remember you..." Vic laughed going along with my joke before walking up to me and hugging. Travis, Ben and Emmett followed saying "good to see you Herrera!" I took out one of Robert's smoothies from my bag then went to sit, there was a spot next to Maya and a spot next to Jack... I took my chances with Jack. Everyone was enjoying a light conversation, avoiding the accident or any hospital talk.
"Good morning 19." My husband said in his captain voice causing everyone to adjust themselves properly.
"Morning sir." Was scattered across the room.
Before leaving he made eyes with me and Vic then leaned against the counter and said
"Chief Ripley has an announcement to make with the team but first we have a meeting so after I will call for line up..."
Everyone was turning back to their conversation assuming he was done...
"Herrera Bishop my office now." He said walking off. I glanced to Vic who squeezed my hand gently.
In Robert's office
Robert's POV
"Sully please man..." Luke started
"Chief Ripley what is the proceedings of this meeting?" I asked coldly not looking up from my desk. I could sensed he was shocked from my response and I knew it caught him off guard
"I want to find out what happened the day of the fire and then I'll make a decision..." he said softly
"Excellent." I said looking him in his eyes
*knock knock knock*
"Come in." I said. Andy and Maya walked in. Maya was looking like she was about to faint and Andy was looking at me with sad but comforting eyes.
"Please have a seat." I said gesturing the two to the seats in front of my desk.
"Bishop I want a step by step account of what happened at the fire where Herrera was injured." Luke said
"We were requested at the storage unit fire first so when we arrived I immediately began giving orders. I assigned Warren and Montgomery on aid car, Miller and Hughes on fire attack, Gibson and Dixon on evac. There was no one to pair Herrera with and since the fire was rapidly getting worse, I ordered her to go in alone. She did try to get me to change my mind but I told her it was an order..." she said fidgeting with her fingers nervously
"Continue." I said coldly
"After I realized that the fire was becoming out of my control I requested for Battalion Chief Sullivan. He arrived 20 minutes later, he asked for a report in which I told him who was inside. That is when I realized my mistake of letting a firefighter go in alone. We tried radioing for Herrera but there was no response. Chief Sullivan then made an assessment and went in alone to get her. 15 minutes later he walked outside with her in his arms." She said shaky
"Herrera what happened inside?" Luke asked. She looked at me then began to speak
"After I went in alone, I evacuated about 6 persons before I went in a room, it was filled with bookshelves, I suspected it was a mini library. Then there was the first explosion which led to multiple shelves falling on me. I was under them for a few minutes but then I regained some strength to get myself out from under them. I began to make my way out but I got lost and with my radio being busted from the shelves, I couldn't get ahold of anyone. I tried to get out but then I collapsed and I woke up in the hospital." She said glancing back and forth with Luke and I.
"Thank you." Luke said
"Due to these accounts, Captain Bishop you have been relieved of you duties and will return to bring a Lieutenant. As for you Herrera, we are in need of a temporary captain of 19, how would you like the position." He said
Andy's POV
I glanced at Robert shocked who had the same reaction to mine.
"I would need to discuss it with my husband..." I replied slowly still shocked
"Well Bishop and I will give you both some time to discuss." Ripley said standing up before leaving
