Nathan.... Child wake up now.... Your father is waiting for you!

The sun shines brightly through the window of our little Southern Water Tribe cottage. Jumping up quickly, I rush over to my wardrobe and pull on my parka before exiting my room and rushing to the door. My mom hands me my school bag, and kisses me lightly on the forehead before sending my off. She has to bend down quite low to reach; I only come up to her waist.

I rush out the door before my mom can embarrass me further, and leap into my dad's awaiting car.

"Nathan!" one of my best friends, Wendy, welcomes me. Even though she's two years younger than me, she's always there when I need her.

"Hi, Wendy," I reply in turn.We sit in silence to observe some spirits drifting like clouds in the sky.

The ride doesn't take long. Soon my dad brakes in front a forest of igloos. "Have a great field trip, you guys!" He says, his shaggy ponytail whipping slightly up.

I nod. Wendy giggles, and then we set foot off into the colony of igloos. "Hmmm..." I mumble, "our teacher said he'd meet us in igloo #23..."

Wendy shrugs. "Natie, we're lost."

I look up. "Yup..." In the corner of my eye, I see Kikka and Geska, the twins in my class being cow-handled by their parents. It makes me giggle a little, they've always been more on the immature side.

"GWENDOLYN!! NATTTIEEE!" They scream at us. Their parents look up, confused. "WHERE IS IGLOO 23?"

"No idea!" Wendy calls back cheerfully.

"Oh, brother.." I groan, rolling my eyes.

Wendy takes my hand. "I know you don't like them, but deal with it." She mumbles rather harshly out of the corners of her mouth as she drags me over to Kikki and Geska's parents.

"Hello Mr & Mrs Asakko,"Wendy says politely. "This is Nathan Li, my friend."

"Hello," I say, bowing ceremoniously. "Pleasure to meet you."

They smile back. "Hello, Nathan dear." The mother replies.

Mr.Asakko, looks at me in a double take. "Isn't your father Mr Li of the Fire Nation."

"Yes, sir. What about?"

Mr and Mrs Asakko look at each other. I could imagine the discussion they were having now in their heads. 'This is that f*cked up fire nation kid,' the dad is saying. 'I signed the very petition that tried to kick him out of here,' he adds. The mother is nodding. 'Poor little fire nation monster...'

They smile at me with stitched in grins. They were peering into a poor boy's soul that wasn't theirs to inspect... They were judging what they didn't know...

My childhood gone for this! Ow... It hurts....

I roll over on to my stomach, cringing and groaning. I bring my hands up to my face. They're still bloodied and indented, cracked and broken.

I slump down onto a concrete surface. It's dark, cold and lonely. What are they going to do with me?
