I bend some water out of the weeds as we trot alone long abandoned trails in and out of greenery. Focussing on the water before me, I put healing energy into it, and the water turns a faded orangey colour. Perfect for a light source, as Rose is too pooped to produce any fire.

Along the ride, I hear some creaks and squeaks; Rose trying to metal bend some of her automail. It must not be working, as she gives up soon after.

After an hour of travel (Luna sure can go far after deep sleep and a good meal) we come to small fire nation town Ba Fei (八飞), the place where my father and I lived for a couple of months after moving from the water tribe. It's also where my father met and hired Annia, my caregiver. Not very happy memories.

Luna strolls into town at about midnight. I lead her over to a creek where we could get some shut-eye. Rose immediately falls asleep, Luna nestled around her. I wait a little and quickly reach over to Rose's sketchbook, so I can rip out a piece of paper. I can't help but look at the drawings, figures from her past. One of a palenkine with storm clouds above, half of a beautiful women with golden hair and blue eyes which looks abused and torn. A male and a female in earth kingdom clothing, and a picture of Rose bending water. And then Rose waking up in a bathtub, me and her eating peaches. Me, just as I leaned in for a kiss and a doodle of Luna playing fetch.

I smile as I see the pictures, but it's getting rather late. I rip out a piece of paper and scribble a to-do list for tomorow, then let my drooping eyelids get what they've been begging for and my breath slows down to a slower pulse.

Goodnight, Mom, I say to the sky above, then close my eyes and fall into a deep slumber.
