I sigh as I finish scaring Nathan half to death. I'm in gray, almost indestructible amour that covers my entire body. Nathan stares at me with wide, terrified eyes as we're escorted to a large war blimp that'll take us to Ganshan. I avoid his gaze, keeping all my feelings hidden with an empty expression. Cold, hardened, and emotionless.

"Rose," Nathan whispers as we sit in the seats of the aircraft. I flinch at the sound of my name. He waits for me to acknowledge him, but I don't dare to.

It takes hours to get there, and I find myself savoring every second in this seat, dreading for what is to come. But we do arrive eventually.

Kids are ushered into homes, while women close the shutters. My blonde, loose hair sways in a breeze. I march with the soldiers as they cause all the damage they can.

But I can't do the same. I grew up here. I know practically everyone in this village. The tea shop I worked at for a few years bursts into flames. A house lit up with fire collapses, leaving a small child sobbing as it tries to retrieve its parents in the destruction. A man holds the little girl back. I flinch. The same thing happened to me, except no one was there to stop me before I lost two limbs.

How the hell do I remember all that so clearly?

Something snaps inside my brain. Not a flare. Something much worse. A unique, new sensation fills me head to toe. I was going into the Avatar State, without any control. My eyes glow purple instead of blue, and a hurricane of wind surrounds me. My golden hair whips wildly in the tornado of bending.
