I didn't know why they had brought me here. Perhaps they did it to watch if Rose shot me any friendly glances, or maybe they wanted me to bloodbend, giving them an excuse to finally dispose of me. Maybe they wanted my father to notice his son in chains. I wasn't entirely sure, but truly the experience was heartbreaking. Seeing Rose getting treated like this was having a bad effect on my emotional wellbeing. I wanted to do something, but figured it would be exactly what the firelord wanted. I was still figuring out my place, you see. I never expected this...
The Firelord, in all his grand magesty rises from the table. "I guess you're all wondering what the hell the son of a bitch is doing here..." he says flatly, his eyes wandering over to settle on me.
The governers and guests shuffle awkwardly in their seats.
"Especially you," the firelord continues, "General Li."
His snake-like eyes lock with my father's. I see a gulp pass through my father's throat.
The firelord returns his gaze to me. "This boy here is a traitor, a liar, a thief, a criminal, outlaw, and prisoner," the man spits. "I brought him here so you can all see what happens to a criminal of this status." He says excitedly, like a maniac. He points at me. "25 lashes from a leather whip with attached stones."
It doesent surprise me. But I cannot show fear... For Rose's sake.
The firelord giggles, then signals a guard to hand my father the whip. The corners of my father's lips turn up in a smile.
Firelord Kung smiles triumphantly. "For you."
