I take off, sprinting after Rose. Kelvin doesn't follow.
"Useless freak," I hear him spit behind my shoulder. I can't respond. I chase Rose out of the village, and once there's no-one else in view, Rose waves her hands around, creating a ball of air which she leaps on, riding like a top.
I stare at my empty satchel, then at the grass growing below. Time to use a technique my mother showed me long ago...
I pull the water out of the plants, leaving them lifeless before imitating an ancient earth bending technique used by the Dai Lee, called mudhands. I water whip the liquid back, then send it sprawling over to Rose's dissapearing figure before latching the block of ice on to her mechanical leg. I see Rose stumble, unbalanced to the ground.
I only have a few seconds, I think. She'll water bend herself out...
But to my surprise, instead of waterbending, she takes a flame and blasts the ice off, but her foot comes off with it. I hear Rose yelp, then a squeal, then a grunt before I reach her, already freezing her to the ground.
"Are you not a waterbender?" I ask.
