My mind started to swirl a little "We're WHAT?"

"Half brothers, really," Evan replied sheepishly. "I figured it out with the daylight bloodbending. Only ones of Yakone's descent can."

I blinked. "Who's Yakone?"

Evan looked at me strangely. "Your mom didn't tell you as she was teaching you?"

I feel my cheeks burn. "My mom didn't to teach me to bloodbend! She only showed me stealing water from moisturized air and sucking it out of plants. She didn't tell me of bloodbending at all"

"Wow, you're really in the dark," Evan says taking a deep breath.

"It was Yakone's mentor's mentor who invented the technique. Her name was Hama, and she was the last southern water bender after the end of the hundred year war. Right before she died, she trained an apprentice, in the way of bloodbending. That apprentice was Yakone's father. Yakone's father found a way to bloodbend in broad daylight, without the full moon. All of his bloodline is capable of executing the feat. Yakone's father had twins, a girl and a boy. The boy was Yakone, the girl was named Hisako after her mother. Yakone grew power-hungry and exposed the art to the world. Later on, his son Noahtuk created a way to take people's bending away using bloodbending, but the secret was sealed when he disappeared off the map, presumably dying,"
Evan explains quickly. "As far as the general public knows, after Avatar Aang's wife died, bloodbending went extinct. But Hisako created her own bloodbending line. And here we are today."

My throat grew dry. I really was related to Evan. "My mother had an illegitiment child, then?"

Evan nodded. "Right before she married your father." His eyes scowl. "But enough friendliness," he snarls, slapping me hard across the face. He puts me in a grip before I can say a word, and stands me up in the middle of the room.

He pulls a radio out of his pocket and mumbles a few unidentifiable words and 3 of his goons come marching in. They pull my hands behind my back and metal bend chains onto my wrists and feet. One of the guys slips on a blindfold.

"By the way," I hear Evan call before they lead me out the door. "Don't try bloodbending in the palace, because it's punishable by death. They're giving Rose the treatment right now, so don't send grips spasming all over the place when you want to stop what they've done to her.

My heart almost stops beating.
