Brielle sighed watching the end of the game against the Hawks. They were going to lose and it infuriated her. The guys had fought hard to come back from a big deficit and were just a smidge behind as the game was winding down. In the end her hunch was right and the Clippers fell 104-107. She felt awful for Blake and the rest of the team. They had dropped both of the road games.
She had spent the previous night at her dad’s house for dinner and watching the game with him. It wasn’t their best showing and they lost 118-125. With the next game being the Warriors Brielle was really nervous for them. At least the game was in LA.
Her father’s house was nice. It was definitely small but exactly what she pictured him to have. There were no touches of her mother to be seen anywhere not that she was surprised at all. She knew her father had filed for divorce, but he had spared her any of the details beyond that.
Brielle got up to make herself something to eat for dinner. She was the only significant other that had stayed behind for this road trip. With it being so close to Christmas, all of the Clipper kids were out of school and everyone traveled. She couldn’t wait to take Braylee on the road to watch Blake play. Truth be told she missed going on the road herself. She really missed work.
She finished throwing together her sandwich and sat back down on the couch just in time to catch the tipoff for the Thunder/Trailblazers game. They were in OKC for this game before traveling to San Antonio to take on the Spurs on Christmas Day. That was one pro of not being a part of the organization this year. She would get to be home for Christmas. Well home in the sense of her new home.
She looked around the large living room noticing all of the small touches she had added since she had been living with Blake. She was a little sad they weren’t picking out a house together, but he had done well on his own picking out this one. When she had first moved in it was definitely a bachelor pad. She had added pictures and candles and little things to dress up the place and make it obvious that a girl lived there too.
It wasn’t so much that she was worried about another girl making her way into her territory, or trying to make her way in so to speak, but more about feeling like his house was her home too. She smirked watching as Ibaka missed an easy shot. She was still pissed at him for the shit he tried to start at the gender reveal.
She muted the TV as her phone rang and Blake’s ringtone filled the house.
“Hey babe,” Brielle smiled answering the phone.
“Hey. Did you watch it?” Blake asked. She could hear the frustration in his voice.
“Yeah I did. One hell of a comeback,” Brielle said trying to stay positive.
“It wasn’t good enough,” Blake sighed.
“They’re one of the top teams, if not the top team in the east and you only lost by three points,” Brielle pointed out.
“We lost the western conference finals last season by just one point Brie. One point is all it takes,” Blake grumbled.“Well I’m still proud of you,” Brielle said running out of things to say to try and turn his mood around.
“I don’t know why,”
