Brielle sighed parking her car in her spot at Chesapeake Arena. She was way early for tonight’s game but after packing for the coming road trip to Los Angeles and doing a little cleaning she had run out of things to keep her mind off of last night.
She had sat down to watch some shows she had on the DVR and after that wasn’t enough to occupy her mind she got up and headed in to the arena. Maybe she could find some work to do that would keep her busy. Who was she kidding? Truth be told she was hoping to run into him.
The visiting team usually got the court early and if she was timing it right she would get there in the middle of shoot around for the Clippers that day.
Brielle got out of her car just as her phone chimed with a new text from Sam.
Wanna meet up for dinner before the game starts?
Brielle stopped walking trying to decide if maybe getting to the arena this early was a bad idea. Deciding against her better judgement she kept walking through the doors as she texted Sam back.
I’m already at the ‘peake. Want to bring dinner and meet me in my office??
Sounds good. I’ll text ya when I get to Bricktown.
Brielle slid her phone in her bag and walked through the glass doors to the offices. She opened her door and smiled at the large bouquet of red and white roses sitting on her desk. She shook her head as she got closer and realized they were in an OU vase. She grabbed the card and read the short message.
We’ll always have Norman,
Blake
“Wow who are those from?” Joel, another member of the training staff, asked walking up behind her.
Brielle jumped and held her hand against her heart.
“Jesus you scared the shit out of me Joel,” Brielle said turning around. “They’re from a friend,”
“That’s an awfully nice gesture coming from just a friend,” Joel smirked crossing his arms over his chest.
“Well it’s the truth,” Brielle shrugged walking around her desk and booting up her computer.
“Why are you here so early?” Joel prodded.
“Why are you?” Brielle shot back.
“Okay okay it was just a question,” Joel said hands up.
“Sorry. I kind of have a lot on my mind. Did you need something?” Brielle asked looking over some notes from the team surgeon on a procedure one of the bench players had done at the end of the regular season.
“Yeah, Griffin was looking for you,” Joel said skeptically.
