Blake debated on calling and making an appointment or just showing up at Brent’s office. He decided on the latter. He got dressed in nicer slacks and a dressy short sleeve shirt. He lightly gelled his hair and grabbed his phone, wallet, and sunglasses as he headed out the door.
He knew how to get downtown, after all he had grown up in the area, so that wasn’t a problem. It was figuring out where he was going once he got there that he had to worry about. Traffic was light considering it was the middle of the day. He parked the SUV and made his way into the building. He stopped at a directory that was hanging on the wall and look for Brent Lane’s name. Once he found it he got in the elevator pressing the button for the 14th floor.
The doors opened revealing an office who’s outside walls were nothing but windows. Blake looked around and found the receptionist desk and started walking toward it. He waited patiently as the receptionist got off the phone. She looked up at him and smiled.
“I’m here to see Brent Lane,” Blake smiled taking his sunglasses off his face.
“Do you have an appointment?” The receptionist asked.
“I don’t. Can you just tell him Blake Griffin is here to see him please?” Blake said giving her his signature smirk.
“I know who you are,” She said getting up and walking back to what Blake assumed was Brent’s office.
Blake leaned against the counter looking at something on his phone while he waited for her to come back.
“Mr. Griffin? Brent will see you now,” The receptionist smiled walking back to the desk.
She led Blake back to the office and stopped opening the door.
“Thank you,” Blake smiled at her before walking into the office.
Brent was sitting behind his desk reading something from a folder. He looked up as Blake walked in.
“Hello Blake. Have a seat,” Brent smiled up at him setting the folder back down on his desk.
“Thank you for seeing me sir,” Blake smiled at him sitting down in one of the chairs.
“Sure. You are dating my daughter, or so I hear,” Brent said giving him his full attention.
“Yeah. I don’t know how to really say this, but her mom,” Blake started awkwardly.
“Yeah. I know,” Brent sighed. “We’re on two different planets when it comes to what we want for Brielle,”
“Well that’s good to hear,” Blake sighed.
“I just want my little girl to be happy and working in the NBA makes her happy. Just don’t take that away from her,” Brent warned.
“I wouldn’t,” Blake said his eye catching a picture on the table behind his desk. It was of Brielle, Sam, and Blake. It was when they were at OU and Blake was pretty sure it was during homecoming week. The three of them had huge smiles on their faces.
