Brielle hated when they had to play the Warriors and it was a sentiment that seemed to get worse now that she was pregnant and hormonal. It was the 5th game of the regular season for Clippers who were off to a great start at 3-1. Brielle hadn’t taken the at home loss to Sacramento very well and Blake was close to pulling the plug on allowing her to be at games after she voiced her opinion of the refs play calling a little too loud more than once.
Steve Ballmer, the team owner, however, loved it. He enjoyed her enthusiasm so much he had made a habit of sitting next to her at home games. Blake laughed looking up and catching them yelling during the Jazz game. It was the last game at home before they went on the road and with Blake’s almost fight with Booker in the preseason still on everyone’s minds the players were still pretty snippy with each other.
Brielle sighed looking down at her vibrating phone. She was on the family bus that was taking them to the arena in San Francisco for the game tonight. Jada was sitting next to her talking on the phone to what sounded like Little Chris who hadn’t made the trip up the coast this time. Brielle smiled reading the standard text Blake had been sending her before games.
I love you beautiful. Take care of the little one. See you soon. Oh....behave!
Yeah well it was Golden State and she would do her best.
“I hate this team,” Jada said as the bus pulled up to the back entrance where they would let everyone off.
“You and me both,” Brielle grimaced looking out the window at the arena decked out in Golden State colors.
“We better win,”
“Ha. I think we will be lucky to get out of here with a competitive game, not because of a lack of effort from the guys, but you know how it goes here,” Brielle smirked.
“Oh I know how it goes. Pisses me off,”
“You and me both,” Brielle sighed.
Now that she was really starting to show Brielle gave up on wearing Blake’s jersey and instead wore leggings and a longer dressier shirt. She paired that with black boots and flat ironed her hair. She was already almost 15 weeks into her pregnancy and at the last appointment she and Blake had scheduled the big ultrasound where they could find out what they were having. Brielle still wasn’t totally convinced she wanted to know.
Brielle followed Jada off the bus and into the arena. The families had gotten there right at the same time the players were starting to make their way out of the locker room and into the hall for their pre-warmup stretching and rituals.
Chris reached out and grabbed Jada’s hand as he walked by holding onto it until their arms wouldn’t reach anymore. Brielle had to smile at the two. They were so cute it was almost sickening to watch. She looked everywhere for Blake. She was so lost in trying to find him DJ reaching out and rubbing her now obvious bump scared her.
“Sorry,” DJ smiled down at her.
“Where’s your friend?” Brielle whispered as the family wasn’t supposed to be interacting with the players.
