Quickly blocking the number, I stuffed my phone in my pocket, before making my rounds around the hospital.
I had just finished performing a seven hour surgery, and I was beyond exhausted.
The last thing I wanted to do was deal with her.
Someone I haven't seen or talked to in nearly a month, and I don't plan on speaking with anytime soon.
"Hi. May I come in." I asked the husband of one of my patients, as I stood in the door way.
"Yes. Of course."
Walking in further, I washed my hands at the sink before slipping my gloves on, so I could check her wounds.
"How is she doing, doc?" He asked, gently holding her hand.
"Physically, she is doing better, but there's still a long road of recovery ahead. Emotionally, I'm not sure. It would be best if your wife talks to a professional, as soon as possible." I spoke honestly, changing her bandages.
His wife was brutally assaulted a few days ago, due to someone breaking into their house.
She tried to defend herself and her home, but the guy overpowered her.
She would've died if it wasn't for her husband coming home, and he ended up killing the man in self defense.
She suffered a couple stab wounds to the side, a fractured eye socket, and a major concussion. She has dark purple bruises all over her body, and a broken finger from how hard she hit the guy.
"If at all, do you have any suggestions for one? I wouldn't know where to begin looking for a decent therapist." He asked, when I covered her back up, with a blanket.
"Try Dr. Aissa Sinclair. She's a wonderful therapist, and I think she be great for you wife. I'll have her nurse bring in her number, when she does her rounds." I said, before shaking his hand, and making my exit.
Checking on my last few patients, I went back to my office and gathered my things, before heading to the nurse's station to sign out.
"Abby, please give Mr. Grayson Dr. Sinclair's number, while making your rounds. You all have a good night." I said to the other nurses, before making my exit.
