[Pay attention to the pov switch. A little longer chapter ahead~]
—TYLER'S POV:
I pushed my hair back and turned away from Adele after I scowled on her, like crazy. I didn't understand if she really didn't grasp or was she playing it dumb not to apprehend that Charles had no good intentions with her.
I caught a breath, shutting my eyes. My insides actually burned imagining her with that guy. With some other guy.
Fuck.
This was so not me.
Why couldn't Adele catch the drift of what I was trying to say? Why couldn't she simply understand that there was a reason behind that sweetness Charles always gave her! There was a reason why I literally wanted to crush that guy's gut.
When I watched Charles striding towards us, my mind instantly directed back to the conversation we had at the party before Adele even arrived.
~FLASHBACK~
Obviously, I was astounded to see Charles at a party that was thrown by someone he barely knew. But what caught my attention next was that—he was peeking around as if searching for someone, while he stood near the countertop having his beverage. When I couldn't comprehend his behaviour, I decided to approach and greet him myself.
"Charles! Hey," I acknowledged the guy, nearing him which caused him to shift his attention towards me, with a grin playing on his lively face.
"Hey, Ty!" Charles continued to grin, "I can already tell that you're surprised to see me here."
"Well..." I laughed, gliding my hands in my pockets and nodding slightly, "Looks like you're looking for somebody."
"I will not lie," He gave a quiet laugh, wolfing down a quick sip from his drink, "I am looking for Adele. She isn't here yet, I wonder why?"
My eyes suddenly hardened and narrowed into slits as he answered, but I offered him a surpassed chuckle instead, "Calm down, boy. You barely even know her."
Yes, calm the fuck down, boy.
Charles simpered, glancing down at his glass then back at me, "Exactly, man. I really wanna get to know her, Tyler. You think she'd be interested?"
I stood there, releasing my hands out of the pockets and letting them curl into fists on my sides. My shoulders rolled, as I glared at him,
"So, you like her?"
"I kinda do," Charles shrugged his shoulders casually, as a shifty rather criminal smirk lingered in his eyes, "Well, you tell me. You don't like her, now do you? Because then I don't want to have problems."
"You already have problems," I hissed under my breath but I reckoned the guy heard it because then he delivered a lopsided grin my way. I swear, he wasn't even looking like that usual sweet guy he always was.
"See, no offence Tyler," Charles put his glass down on the countertop, and looked back at me. It was as if I could see his attempt to provoke me right through his eyes which stirred the aggravation within me, "I think you shouldn't try in vain. You and Adele have a whole different kind of relationship and I don't think it would work at all. So give up if you're trying anything."
Irritation pricked at me as I exhaled a sharp breath, pressing my teeth together. This guy literally got on my nerves with his words. Was he seriously trying to warn me about something I would decide for myself?
Swallowing my wrath, I gave out a dark chuckle, "If I was worried about what you think, I'd ask Charles. Nevertheless, I decide for myself."
"Relax, Ty. It was just an opinion," Charles stepped closer, snickering and tapping on my shoulder lightly, "We shall see."
