ADELE'S POV:
"You see, I am going to have a bet with Tyler in a couple of minutes, and..." Max paused, only so that his lips tipped up, forming a smirk, a quiet dubious smirk must I say, "...And it's related to you, Adele."
As soon as the guy completed his sentence, wrath filled my senses and I caught a quick frown, perhaps of bitterness. The mere mention of Tyler and a bet in the same sentence sent my blood pressure skyrocketing. Tyler freaking Scott was making a bet about me? Wouldn't I punch that jaw off his face before he does that!
"Related to me? That crazy is betting on me? I will rip all his hair off his head, that blockhead!" Maddened, I yelped, squeezing my fists firmly, really wanting to punch Tyler senseless at this point.
Bryan got hold of my shoulders, kneading them, as he whispered, "Adele! Easy there. Let's just hear him once, alright?"
Reluctantly, I took a deep breath, opting for a moment of Zen rather than immediate mayhem.
"Well, what's the deal and bet about? And how does it include Adele?" Nicole questioned, her hands rested on her hips, while she gave a questioned look to Max who in response, tossed a whimsical smile her way.
"So, here is how it goes," Max began, "I dared Tyler to ask out his only rival on this planet. Aka you, Adele." He looked at me, to which I only rapped my foot, hands crossed over the chest, and jaw clenched so hard, it could break walnuts. I concealed all my desperate urge to spring up from my spot, and scream. Nevertheless, Max continued,
"Once Tyler asks Adele out, we made a bet on what your answer would be. My bet was that your answer would be a yes and Tyler bets that you'd say a no, obviously. Since Tyler is so sure that you'd say no to him, he's already confident that he will win this bet," Max explained with that smug smile still playing on his lips and I almost coughed in disbelief at the situation.
What the actual fuck was this?
"What even is this?" Nicole shook her head at the guy who I supposed had lost his brains, before she exchanged looks with Bryan and me. On my side, Bryan only swept his hand through his hair, clearly perplexed himself.
"Sorry to burst your bubble, Max, but that douchebag is right for once. I'd sooner date a cactus than him. Never gonna happen!" I retorted, my tone final, my expression unyielding.
"That covers the bet part. What's your deal?" Bryan inquired, and I quickly elbowed his stomach, giving him a questioned look. I needed no deal at the moment. I wasn't going out with that guy! End of the damn conversation.
"Right, Bry. The deal is that Adele has to accept going out with him, so that I win the bet!" Max grinned, as if I were to listen to him, but all he did was trigger my internal volcano.
Like seriously, what the hell?
"Why would she do that?" Nicole narrowed her eyes, earning another one of his sinister sniggers.
"Because unfortunately, I know what's going on with that fake boyfriend lie and all. Considering Tyler is my best friend, I might even blow it," Max waggled his brows at me, causing me to heave out a serious breath, "But look, if you agree to do as I say, I promise, the secret is safe with me."
When Max's grin grew deeper, I couldn't help but lose my cool at that point. Curling my hand, I slammed my fist on the table with a thud, all ready to smash his currently brainless head right into the wall.
I mean, screw it! He was trying to take advantage of this, I'll kill him!
"Max, you devil! Are you trying to blackmail me?" Taking a step forward, I hollered, swinging my fist in the air, which was an attempt to get my knuckles right into his face, but it was a fail since Bryan, yet again, had yanked me away from him, by my waist.
