9 | Save my babies

People gathered to see what was happening.
The old man shouted "Call the ambulance!"
Bella was feeling an overwhelming pain. She thought she was going to die.

Her breathing was harder. Soon she felt that tights were wet.

"Am I bleeding?" She asked, but no one could hear her. "Her water just broke!" Someone shouted after seeing Bella on the ground with a puddle of water under her. Bella was at ease when she found out that she was not bleeding. She started to feel dizzy and they passed out.

Two minutes later, the ambulance came.

Bella was rushed to the hospital and was sent to the delivery room. Bella gained consciousness when she arrived at the hospital. She was having waves of contractions, the pain felt as if needles where piercing her whole being. She was soaking in her sweat. 

"Save my babies," Bella said clutching the doctor's coat.

The signal light on the upper right of the door turned red, indicating that no one was allowed to disturb.

Twenty minutes later Verona arrived at the hospital. She received a call from Mario saying that Bella was about to give birth. She rushed there as soon as possible.

She was waiting anxiously at the delivery room's door. The more she heard Bella cried in pain, the more her heart sank.

After two hours, the door of the delivery room was not open. Verona did not dare to talk, every second was torturing her.

She didn't realize the two persons that were looking at her as if they were seeing a ghost.

"Susan, what are you doing at the hospital, aren't you supposed to be in Massachusetts?" The woman on the bench questioned Verona.

Verona didn't look at her, she was so focused on what was happening to Bella.

Hearing no response from Verona, the woman got up a patted her on the shoulder.

"Susan, what are you doing at the hospital?" She asked again looking concerned. "And why are you at this corridor. Do you know the person who is giving birth?" She had a puzzled look on her face.

Verona turned around and faced the woman who patted her on the shoulder. Even though the woman was wearing a plain tea-shirt and a three-quarter jeans. She looked rather elegant. The woman was in her late forty's. She had a standard oval face, brown eyes and dark brown hair. Verona thought the woman looked quite similar to her.

Verona smiled, "Sorry miss, you have the wrong person."

"W-w-what's your name?" The woman asked.

"I'm Verona Lee, and you are?"

"Hayden Moore. H-how old are y-you?"

"My legal age is nineteen and a half, but I don't know my biological age. Why are you so interested in me?"

The woman did not answer. She went back to the bench and took out her phone. She turned it on and handed it to Verona.

Verona was shocked when she saw what was on Haden's phone. She saw a complete reflection of herself. The only difference was that the girl in the photo had a mole over her left eyebrow. She also had a long dark brown hair and watery brown eyes. A thought flashed through Verona's mind.

"Who are you?" Verona asked.

"Do you suspect the same thing as me?" Hayden replied. "Twenty years ago, I gave birth to twins, girls. Two years after, one of them was taken away from me. I have searched the entire city but I haven't found her. A year later, I received the news that she died. All my hope was gone until I heard that you are not Susan. Susan is one of the twins." Tears were swirling in Hayden's eyes

"Umm... This might me a..." Verona was cut off by the sound of a crying baby.

She turned around and faced the ward.

She wondered if Bella was okay. The signal light on the upper right corner was still red. Verona began to worry.

Hayden patted her on the shoulder. "It's alright, she'll be fine."

Verona turned to face Hayden. "Wait! Do you know her?"
